I don't think so. There are no mapped routes via Birmingham or Tamworth for Sheffield to London journeys. So via Tamworth but avoiding Birmingham is the only valid route because it is the shortest route possible using those TOCs.

You have a right to a full refund of your unused ticket due to the disruption and that's probably it. This is always a risk when planning to arrive at an airport only 2 hours before the flight departs.

I also think using the gates at Wimbledon to touch out and back in would break the journey. It could also be slightly more convenient to buy a single ticket for Leatherhead-Wimbledon (also now £4.30) and just touch out using the tube platform validators.

It would not surprise me if 'mandatory reservations' is a factor in this. A Stevenage-London passenger reserving a seat effectively blocks it for anyone going to London from further down the line.

I have had a search but could not find any news on this. Since September it appears the TPE-only 'North of England Rover' (I447) and 'North of England City Experience' (I524) are no longer in the fares database or mentioned on TPE's website.

We need a lot more scrutiny from the media on what is happening with 'unregulated' fares at publicly owned TOCs in particular. It should be welcome to have some fares frozen but not if it means other fares are increased by more as a consequence.

The Long Eaton ticket is valid via Alfreton. I searched it in a journey planner before suggesting. The Chesterfield ticket is cheaper but of course does not allow starting at Alfreton.

Splitting tickets at Carlisle would also be cheaper than the through ticket, but would restrict weekday morning travel. The through Off Peak Return has a token 'not valid before 04:15' restriction. A Long Eaton-Glasgow Off Peak Return is 'not valid before 05:00' and has Any Permitted routeing...

The platform zones are numbered not lettered (avoiding confusion with coach letters), and are in place at Wakefield Westgate too.

Bonkers that you can now buy an LNER-priced Any Permitted ticket to Bentley or Adwick and travel via Leeds, but not get a ticket for Doncaster! (travelling Selby to Bentley or Adwick via Leeds is unlikely to use any LNER trains either...)
