It staggers me how slow all the lines from Chester to Manchester are. It's as if the M56 doesn't exist. It should take 30 minutes not upwards of 1 hour
I get that, but I think the romantic age of rail is long, long, long behind us in this connected world. It may generate some short term interest but I maintain that naming trains has no material impact long term. I've had enough delays behind named locomotives and units!
I wonder, are the fasts busier than slows? If so why not ensure that the fasts stop at platforms 1 and 4 to avoid use of the internal bridge altogether?
