Man arrested for using plug socket on Overground train

Out of interest, where are the offending sockets? If they are in the vestibule area, it may be health and safety, with TfL concerned about trailing leads near exit doors?

    Banbury - all the changes

So, looking at the piccies, does the Lafarge stone train always use the same siding? And if so, if the other superfluous?

Man arrested for using plug socket on Overground train

I'm am always amazed by some people's attitude that some laws/rules are okay to break and others not. The person at fault here is the guy who wrongly plugged his charger into the socket and got stroppy when asked to remove it.

Virgin Trains removes standard class quiet zone; worst intercity TOC in living memory

I always had a poor view of Virgin, but that changed once Arriva took over the XC franchise!

Are Police immune from being held accountable??

In normal prosecutions the police/Crown Prosecution Service analyse the evidence and decide which bits they are going to use to support the prosecution. They must tell the defence what they are using, and more importantly, what they are not (especially if the bits they are not are potentially...

    Chiltern October Timetable

I'm assuming the Paddington - Stratford-upon-Avon services were not that popular? Otherwise why did FGW offload them to Chiltern, and why ever since Chiltern have been gradually down grading them?

    Freeview - lack of channels

First check which is the best local transmitter. Try looking at your neighbours' houses to see where theirs point. Being a digital signal a booster may help.

Business Case for CrossCountry 170s to all 3-Coaches?

It has to be remembered that Cross Country Trains got the franchise because they were cheap. Same applies when you consider the West Country/South Coast/North East/North West route. When the franchise was awarded last time round I heard the Virgin proposal to alleviate over crowding was to buy...

    Improved FGW services to Banbury?

There have been a few 'attempts' over the years where XC services have called at Didcot. Seems to happen for a timetable period or two then get quietly dropped.

    Improved FGW services to Banbury?

Not sure I totally agree with this. There is a significant amount of Banbury - London traffic, as well as Banbury - Oxford - Reading traffic. FGW have never really courted this and i'm sure do the absolute minimum for Banbury as defined in the franchise. Let's be honest, FGW don't put on the...

    Improved FGW services to Banbury?

Yes agreed, was just making the point that even with electrification there will still be Paddington - Oxford diesels. So no reason why there couldn't be Paddington - Banbury diesels.

    Improved FGW services to Banbury?

Not all Paddington - Oxford trains will be electric though will they? Surely the ones going forward up the Cotswold line will still be diesel. Or will these be curtailed at Oxford too?

    Improved FGW services to Banbury?

I'm sure I read something on Network Rail a couple of years ago that FGW wanted to improve services to Banbury. I seem to believe that Chiltern objected blaming the lack of operational flexibility at Banbury itself. Now that the re-signalling and revised layout is coming to fruition at...

    Banbury - all the changes

Just re-read this post and it seems a little strange that one of the key benefits of the layout changes was to improve operational flexibility, when by removing all the sidings and stabling areas this surely must decrease operational flexibility. Unless there's an assumption that the new shed...

Trivia: Football Grounds with Dedicated Stations

Didn't the old Derby County (Baseball) ground have it's own station. Can still see the disused platforms as you cruise into Derby station from Birmingham.

    Banbury - all the changes

So how does the length of the new platform 4 compare to the length of the existing platform 4? Or, what length of train, in terms of how many carriages, can you get on a 133m platform?

    Banbury - all the changes

Does anyone know when we see some real action? Bricks in the ground and all that?
