Worth pointing out Arriva ran a similar route the 27 - Bishopton-Glasgow but it never did well!
The 77 shows the issues with fragmentation of the bus network really because I always feel it should do better in Renfrew bit like McGill's should do better on the Glasgow section of 17. If people...
Bus operators can remove the concession card from services which charge a premium - night buses/specials/airport runs. This would fall under that i guess. Sense many bus operators would scrap it all together given the choice!
Second point I think that is how First fare stages work- if you pay...
Deckers on the 17 has happened a few times over the last months. Arriva used to duplicate the 5pm departure 17 with a decker at peaks but that was the old 30 minute service.
Maybe. For me the increasing traffic congestion in Glasgow won't have helped. The motorways are rammed and since the QUE...
The 17's market is Paisley to West End. The extension into town is useful to pick up office workers at Charing Cross end.
The major error is at night running it too close to the 38s so instead of splitting the frequency the two buses chase each other picking up the same passengers on the run to...
To be fair National Express had a far simpler and quieter network to run and much easier to recover delay- the explosion in commuting, increased frequencies and the linking of many services through bottlenecks has changed the position somewhat.
The increase in car commuting is concerning many...
The 34 had a 2001 B10BLE on the route today. One of the oldest vehicles in Glasgow running alongside the newest!
Seems a minor shunt as well between a McGill's 38 and First 9 too

McGill's are taking the michael there with the fares.
If the X23 doesn't work, do a couple of peak runs Erskine to Glasgow. Scrap the short run 23s and make all of them Glasgow-Govan-Renfrew-Erskine every 10/15mins.
The fares are what well over what Linwood/Houston pays for example to...
True but given the moaning and mumping of the Inverclyde public about the 314s you'd think it was the worst thing in the history of the world! Longest they were was 1 hour end to end. Plus you'd want the flexibility to stick them on longer routes.
The 707s would be a decent fit however no toilets. Might able to be retrofitted when doing other work necessary . Given Siemens 380s are here and 5 car would be about right for the Cathcart Circle network and should fit into the headshunt at Neilston. Guaranteed not to happen!
I don't think many know the end plan for the 385s! They don't appear well suited to the Cathcart Circle at all- it would actually suit a more metro style unit with more standing room and walk through ability like the 707s. Are there not Circle diagrams that interwork with Gourock/Canal services...
There is no need for private plates. Few passengers look for a reg plate- they tend to do that because something has made them unhappy. If the interior is in decent nick then that makes more of an impression. The 9/9a buses running against the Citaros of McGill's is just bizarre! Wondered if...
Suspect most will end up at Inchinnan? Will lead to a bit of mileage for the 3,51,52,54 but nothing outrageous and could work them into depot runs.
Not a huge surprise as others mentioned. Bus usage is falling in the West of Scotland. So many factors, congestion, rail fares, footfall reduction...
The dwell time is horrendous on the 156s particularly given the loadings and standing passengers in the morning which their door design is unsuitable for. Not uncommon for 90 seconds plus dwell times at the stations on the EK line, which they are usually timetabled for 30 secs -1 minute.
The...
I agree, it is always a surprise to me being used to the Glasgow network, how infrequent tickets are checked in other areas.
That said Glasgow is not perfect and you still see a number of people chancing it. There are some DOO services which are truly driver only, but sometimes you'll find a...
It's a positive although I feel EK really needs better frequency. Electric trains would work well on that line too.
Also some of the Barrhead trains are notoriously busy. The 2 car at 0756 from Barrhead is a very busy service as it's the last train that comfortably gets you to Glasgow before...
Suspect the internal stuff doesn't work with the new real time bus information. It worked up until the new on-street stuff was launched.
I can't remember what the TVs used to show. Think its about 15 years since I saw one on. Pretty sure it had adverts for Firstweeks etc and I want to say BBC...

First bus ends up in a garden in Cardonald. That particular section is a joke for traffic, cars parked everywhere and main road traffic struggling past. Glasgow City Council need to do something there.
