    Why diesel

Well, I didn't say that, t if Mr Branson was very environmentally friendly he might have made an effort to stop it but i'm sure he has much more important things to do... I'm amazed the DfT hasn't tried to stop this happening, its quite a sin. I think the main problem is there is no spare...

    Why diesel

becuase they dont have any other available stock to run the services with, they should probably order more 390's with the DfT hwich are perfect for the route, thus allowing the Super Voyagers to be transferred elsewhere, like AXC and EMT.

A very stereotypical view. Then again, EC drivers will give their PC's quite a lot of power when leaving but wdn't notice it as much as they are quieter, they don't clag and accellerate a lot slower than a shorter GC set.

How much do trains cost to buy?

a class 357 new costs £3million each, the 6 HST power cars bought by Sovereign for GC costs £1.5million altogether but they were all broken and in need of overhaul.

180105 has been working quite a lot recently as it has been working one of the HST duties whilst there was only one HST set working. It is now back up at Heaton as we saw it head up ECS on the 28th December. I had BOSCH givme an excellent departure southbound on Monday, most GC drivers...

because they increase capacity at the busiest times of the year, namely for the york christmas markets, their further standard class coaches are getting done as we speak I believe, or their still in store at Long Marston... as for the first class dilemma, they would lose capacity for first...

    London to York

depends what ticket you had, if it was gc only then you would have to wait for the next one but if not then use ec, by the way why does everyone quickly jump to the conclusion that most of gc's trains are cancelled???

    Yorkshire Rail Photos

Morning all. I am here to announce the creation of my new Railway Photography website - http://www.yorkshirerailphotos.co.uk. I have tried numerous times with Fotopic and Piczo, having limited bandwidth and adverts and now I have overcome this with my new site. Basically all we are...

Why would you want to move FC to the end coach? There's not a lot of room in comparison to where it is, the space behind the cab is a lot bigger than you think, which makes the seating become a lot less than in the other coaches. They would actually lose a lot of seating from doing...

Excellent, Hull Trains will have to cope with one less 180 then, so that's four now, with 114 on one engine at Heaton, so is it 101 or 109 which will become the final to join the fleet?

    150 cascade - whats happening?

Did I say that? No. I personally don't mind Pacers that much at the moment and on the routes they do but in my own world they would be replaced very soon. They are fine for what they do near me at the moment.

Class 70s Stored O/O/U due Faults

I wasn't meaning to criticise his post at all, I was just trying to say that we should give them some slack at the moment as this is what happened to some of our favourite locos... Oh, and I will give him some slack...

Class 70s Stored O/O/U due Faults

give them some slack, come on! pretty much every train that has come in new has had teething problems... for example, all the 168's and 170's built at one period of time had to have their engines replaced due to some problem or other... 91's had major door problems when first brought...

    D9016 is preserved - again!

WNXX has just reported that Beaver Sports has purchased D9016 from HNRC after its DRS deal fell threw. GH is to work at the ELR's diesel event on January 9th along with 40145, D1501 and 55022. I had a gut feeling that GH would never work for DRS, it wasn't viable seen as though a lot of their...
