Absolute fastest way to get from the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith to Euston Station?

I've been to many Proms concerts at the Royal Albert Hall recently, and I find the fastest way from South Kensington to Finsbury Park is to change at Victoria is to take the District Line to Victoria and change to the Victoria Line. While Hammersmith to Euston is not the same journey, it's...

    Ticket Routing

The ticket is absolutely valid via Havant. If you get a letter from GTR about this then do come back here for and forum members will assist in proof reading a letter to GTR.

Help with response to Letter from GTR

It would be helpful to know exactly what ticket you did have, and why it was invalid.

Discussion About Whether Fare Evasion Should be Decriminalised

Why would anyone every buy the correct ticket if all you'd have to do is pay the difference in fares plus a £100 charge. Many would take that risk and substantially evade paying their fares.

Delay repay involves multiple operators keep rejecting

Delay Repay claims should be made on the basis of what actually happened.

@D6130 is getting around as I saw them earlier on a train between Banbury and Marylebone.

Kings Cross - security with tape closing platform

This is the sort of thing that many of us have said should happen at Euston to prevent the stampede. I.E. get people on the platform once you know which one it's leaving from. They will need to be slick around train cleaning and reloading but if the timetable is tight this is the case regardless.

    Using someone else’s railcard

The email to your sister says that they are considering prosecution, not that they definitely will prosecute. I would get your sister to write another email making the same points that you made before. It might be worth saying that the case against the person who altered and mis-used the...

Should single fares just be half the value of a return fare?

Under distance based pricing how much would you charge to travel between York to Whitby, avoiding Darlington. Would the fare be competitive with the coach service provided by Coastliner that costs only slightly more than the current rail ticket price but offers a shorter journey time? How much...

Discussion About Whether Fare Evasion Should be Decriminalised

That's very time consuming. Bear in mind TOC typically have thousands of cases under investigation at any one time. CCTV will normally only be kept for a maximum of 31 days so it's unlikely to be available once initial letters have been sent and replied to.

    Caught reusing period return ticket

If you're trying to say that a ticket scan doesn't show a ticket has been used, then you need to think about how someone would exit the station having scanned in at a gateline. There are two ways of doing that - either back through the gateline (which will record a scan) or on a train. The...

When is ticket acceptance not ticket acceptance?

Ticket acceptance won't be applicable to everyone on the train, only those who have been impacted by an earlier cancellation. The announcement should have been better worded, in my view.

Discussion About Whether Fare Evasion Should be Decriminalised

Under the current legal framework there isn't much that a TOC can do with anyone who ignores such correspondence, as is often advised om here.

Should single fares just be half the value of a return fare?

There will be some increase in revenue from imposition of evening peak fares where currently the return portion of an off-peak day return has no restrictions but overall I doubt what has happened is revenue neutral.

Discussion About Whether Fare Evasion Should be Decriminalised

We all talk about honest mistakes not being criminalised and I'm sure we all agree with this. But how do we define an honest mistake? Doughnutting - clearly not honest Railcard expired yesterday - clearly honest mistake Railcard expired last month - Hmmm. What if they travel every day - 20+...

Should single fares just be half the value of a return fare?

Let's take a look at a relatively simple example - Stevenage to London Terminals (I'm disregarding the weekend super off-peak tickets because they're unlikely to be around in the Oval-era) Current fares: Off Peak Return £36.80 Anytime Day Return £28.90 Off Peak Day Return £22.80 Anytime Day...

Why is the LUL roundel not more prominently displayed?

As mentioned upthread this paricular entrance is a small lift to the DLR platforms. I suspect the reason why this particular entrance is not widely publicised is to stop it becoming overwhelmed with people who don't really need to use it. Another example is the link to the Elizabeth Line from...

Discussion About Whether Fare Evasion Should be Decriminalised

An out of court is basically the TOC saying 'pay us some money and in return we won't prosecute you'. TOCs like out of court settlements because they get to keep all of the money. If a case goes to court and someone is fined then the Treasury gets the value of the fine. All the TOC gets is...

Discussion About Whether Fare Evasion Should be Decriminalised

As I've said I believe there needs to be urgent reform, I'm not sure what the future should look like but some of the things that need to be considered are: People engaging in deliberate fare evasion arguably should be prosecuted and be given criminal records. Otherwise where is the deterrent...
