That's a very good question. I suspect GTR has a genuine desire to offer faster services from WGC in the peak, and they've probably calculated that this could also balance loadings across trains as well.
The problem is while the timetable probably works in theory on paper or in a computer...
I'm no expert on timetabling but it seems to me that it would be a huge performance risk getting the Peterborough to Horsham trains to call at Welwyn Garden City.
The East Coast mainline is a very busy railway, I believe it operates at capacity for much of the day which is a train every 3...
Another vote to use a solicitor.
I sorted my will a couple of years ago. I also sorted a power of attorney out as well, simply because if I was to become incapacitated my attorney could step in and make decisions on my behalf.
In reality, I wonder how many members of staff would know about SILK?
I suspect in reality it would be easier for the parent to buy a ticket, select ToD, and the child collect it at the ticket machine. Payment cards aren’t required to collect a ToD these days (except for LNER)
While you are entitled to appeal, you need to be very careful here.
As a member of staff was travelling with you do you really want to draw attention to the case? Drawing attention to the case could result in the member of staff being investigated which could have all sorts of consequences...
All TOCs are subjected to ticketless travel surveys, the results of which are reported to the DfT. TOCs are measured on their ticketless travel performance.
The OP tells us in thej opening post:
So it is clear to me that the journey was from Taunton to Norwich. Any advice we give about claiming delay repay should therefore reflect the fact that the journey was from Taunton to Norwich.
If we suggest 'inventing' break of journey to aid a delay...
Section 8.2 of TfL's Revenue Enforcement & Prosecutions Policy is very significant here:
https://content.tfl.gov.uk/revenue-enforcement-and-prosecutions-policy.pdf
It was changed to 'Overground' several years back and a few weeks ago it was changed again to 'Lioness Line'.
Of course, the majority of trains from platforms 8-11 are not Lioness Line.
Here's a copy of a post I wrote in 2019 about the impact of contactless at Brookmans Park.
https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/potters-bar-and-brookmans-park-fare-observations.190475/post-4181448
The PAYG contactless system across the southeast only supports two fares levels - peak and off-peak. This has been the case since Oyster PAYG started more than 20 years ago.
I’ll greatly mourn the loss of these fares, if they do end up going, but when people constantly say rail fares are too...
There seem to be a couple of issues here:
1. It is possible that the Penalty Fare has been issued incorrectly. If it is going to be appealed on this basis it would need to be worded in a very technical way, (and I don't judge @Mrfares13 ability to do this) but many people seeking our advice to...
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
