    Back in the 1950's when my father was coming home from leave he would ask the guard if a stop could be arranged near Clayton Bridge railway station to avoid travelling into Manchester. More often than not, a packet of "Blue Liners" was all it took.

    As far as I'm aware the signal box at Bamber Bridge controls several level crossings whilst signalling is from Preston. If there is a single overnight service is the box manned for a full shift or is it just covered in the time when the service is passing? James

    Without wishing to derail the thread, what's the reason for the RTT entry? The NORAD santa tracker is pretty visual and one I showed my own children 20 plus years ago. I can't see the same attraction for a static Web page full of numbers. James
