I would recommend you download the Railtest app. It has practice materials for those two tests although it’s not exactly the same but similar enough to be useful. Helped me massively.

You have to be at your first depot for a minimum of two years before you can transfer anywhere else except in certain circumstances. And that’s only if vacancies are available in the depot you want to transfer to.

LNER do still advertise TM jobs for internal people only so getting in with an entry level role, such as the call centre, would give you a head start. However it’s not unheard of for TM jobs to be advertised externally so it is possible. Really depends on your current situation what you want to do.
