17:20 Ipswich to Cambridge shutdown all engines near Kennett - line blocked for best part of an hour... don't get me wrong I know there are gonna be bugs and it's better than no trains at all - but they do appear to be very fragile...
My concern is that in general review from the last few days - there are still a fair number of issues on the Ipswich-Cambridge/Peterborough service that would make me wary of relying on it often still. Not just all out cancellations, the fact some are loosing chunks of time mid-route.
Examples...
Looks like we'll be having at least one diagram on the Ips-Cambridge route as a 755 next week - just saw a poster at Thurston saying some trains not stopping at Elmswell as of Monday. Presume ASDO not yet nailed there?. Shame it wasn't sorted in time for the Bury Christmas Fayre, 2 and even the...
Been a "fun" weekend for those travelling between Ipswich & Cambridge/Peterborough - after the old railway station at Higham caught fire just before 6am on Saturday morning with fears that the building may collapse onto the line, causing a shutdown for nearly all of the weekend. 18 fire engines...
Hello all,
Was quite agast on Monday morning to discover that they had experienced some fairly big issues during last weekend's possession, just outside Cambridge on the Ipswich line. At one point it didn't look as if the line was to reopen until Tuesday.
Thankfully, I managed to get the...
Must be fairly serious for the same situation to apply today. I do wonder if it is at all connected with the points run through incident above.
Some services seem to be going through to Cambridge from Newmarket (delayed about 20 mins) but the rest are starting/terminating at Newmarket.
A major pain in the arse, welcome to Dullingham.
Almost a year on: http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=86512 from the previous set of issues - they are back with a vengence.
Over the last few weeks, numerous signalling problems plague the area and cause delays of 15 mins... 30...
Seems like things are getting even tighter with DMU's on Greater Anglia today.
Just seen a single car 153 flying around between Ipswich/Cambridge, and there are various cancellations between Norwich-Cambridge & Norwich-Lowestoft due to train faults.
Have we had another unit go down? :(
Reports on Greater Anglia and NRE of a incident involving a Freight train currently blocking lines at Elmswell this evening.
Sounds quite serious, anyone with any more information?
Around 9:30am this morning we had a fairly sizeable storm that seemed to continue rumbling for at least an hour and a half.
Within a couple of hours I started to notice problems coming up between Ipswich-Cambridge, with signalling problems being reported. Rumours flying around on social media...
My usual commute from Thurston to Cambridge usually passes off without any drama or incident, as the GA 170's go from A-B without too much effort.
Now the trains are fine, but recently it seems the signalling between Cambridge and Chippenham Junction (between Newmarket/Kennett) seems to be...
As NRE/Greater Anglia are reporting buses replacing trains between Bury St Edmunds/Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds/Peterborough this Sunday due to "emergency construction works" I do happen to wonder how bad things are?
I was travelling between Cambridge & Bury last night, and had a noticeable...
Interesting... just looking a bit further on this Anglia Plus passes.
A "Suffolk" monthly pass is £172.80.
Working on the logic that I'll use the standard Off Peak Day Return on weekdays @ £9.40 each + a YP Railcard off peak day return on Saturday = £43.80 a week.
Times that by 4 - to give me...
Hello,
I'm looking into potentially buying a monthly season ticket for my travels between Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich.
I would be travelling off-peak (after 8:45 from Bury St Edmunds) and returning the same day after 4pm.
I would be travelling Tuesday-Saturday inclusive.
I also possess a...
