There had been signal failure around Potters Bar (I think) which led to quite a bit out of Kings Cross being cancelled around 1400. The 1430 to Edinburgh had additional stops at Stevenage and Grantham.
Not sure how how long it impacted service, and could be totally unrelated to the services...
A fatality at Sandy was what I'd heard. I was on the 2030 to Hull, which was actually a train from a couple of hours previous which never left Kings Cross and as a result had two trainloads of people on it as far as Grantham. Got to Retford about 35 late, and from the sounds of it a fair few...
I think most of the standing time southbound at Meadowhall is waiting for the mainline to clear. The Huddersfield stopper is usually timed to depart platform 3 as the Leeds stopper arrives into platform 2 for example.
Hi guys tomorrow I need me make the above journeys, I'll be getting a lift between Retford and Doncaster. I'll be arriving in Retford before 0900 and leaving Doncaster after 1730. I was more wondering if there's any cheaper way than buying two singles?
I've noticed there's an underground train near Rotherham just after where the stoppers leave the mainline towards Rotherhan Central. Is it off to Booths? It has been there a couple of weeks now and just seems a bit of a weird place to leave it.
On the Sheffield to Lincoln train this morning, two minutes after we set off someone asks if its the Meadowhall train. They jumped on without looking where it was going. Granted most trains north of Sheffield do stop at Meadowhall but you'd think people would at least check before getting on!
Doncaster with Northern, East Coast, TPE, Grand Central, Hull Trains, EMT and Cross Country must come high on the list. Feel free to add to the list if I've missed any.
I certainly use platform 1 as a short cut from the street up to the supermarket - never short cut across the tracks though, always go down and under the bridge if I need to.
The wooden blocks they added on the ramps at the end of the platforms obviously haven't had much of an effect on...
Hi,
On Saturday I'm planning on travelling from Sheffield to Edale on the train with a young persons railcard with the return journey being from Castleton (the village in the peak district not the station in the Manchester area). A number of years ago I did the same journey where (what I...
Both South and West Yorkshire tickets are valid to the boundary stations of Darton, Denby Dale, Moorthorpe and South Elmsall so there's no need to buy a ticket to bridge the gap. Only works on the trains though AFAIK there's no similar arrangement on buses.
In the days of MML I had a flight home cancelled and was put on the next plane meaning I missed my booked train from St Pancras to Sheffield. I went to the ticket office and asked them what I could do, the woman in the ticket office wanted some proof of it being cancelled, all I had was a text...
