I've noticed there's an underground train near Rotherham just after where the stoppers leave the mainline towards Rotherhan Central. Is it off to Booths? It has been there a couple of weeks now and just seems a bit of a weird place to leave it.

I wondered if, after holidaying on the Isle of Wight, a Northern Managing Director had come up with a possible solution to the stock-shortage crisis.

I guess they could always use it as a test bed for 442 conversion and fit it with a pantograph ........

Ah good, the D stock for the Harrogate loop has arrived in the North for testing at last ;)

*Not serious. See previous threads proposing this.

Typical. More South East cast offs for the North

Wound how many complaints there will be about seats / no tables in these then. Still, timed perfectly for the TDF Cycling specials in and around Harrogate!

You do sometimes see stuff for scrapping hanging around in that siding for a while. Perhaps Booths haven't got the space for it just yet.

Does anyone else feel a little twinge of sadness at the thought of a scrapyard that's too busy?

Especially with all those pacers that are still around!

**This post isn't meant to be suggesting that northern rail should take on the old LU stock and either convert them to OLE or get NR to lay 4th rail, so let's not go there....**

Good point, I wonder what the cost of extending the Northern Line to Wigan would be .......

Push it a mile and a half to Meadowhall and use it as a Grandstand to view the race as it passes underneath on the Sunday.

Still a line of C-stock visible in the Booths siding from Holmes Junction yesterday (Sat 5th). And plenty of the same visible inside Booths yard from the football ground alley today.
