After reading HH's comments on breaks I asked half a dozen friends who work in different offices in Cardiff about theirs,all of whom said they were paid for their lunch breaks.Not a scientific study or a large sample size but instructive nonetheless.

In 30 years on the railway I've never heard the term "fire break".I'm struggling to see what Wilkinson is complaining about when it comes to breaks.I can only assume he expects train crew to cut their breaks short in the event of disruption.Very sensible !!! Does he really want someone starting...

It might interest members to know that the MP who organised the meeting in question repeats the accusations in his blog on his website.Doesn't even state on there that the nonsense was actually from Wilkinson's speech.

Spot on.Since I started we are running double the number of trains with less rolling stock and fewer traincrew.Results like that aren't achieved without a huge increase in productivity.

No denial from Wilkinson either.He's either deficient in his knowledge of the industry or an out and out liar.The stupidity of airing such nonsense in a public meeting also shows a lack of judgement given his status as a civil servant.He's supposed to be politically impartial.
