Haha I really do hope they don't get EMUs with a metro/high frequency layout. I remember the NLL units from the same generation as 315s and 317s had low frequency layouts but were replaced by 378 Capitalstars. I'm guessing the Overground will want to follow this again..
The people that planned and designed this ought to be banned from ever working on anything. They evidently failed to even conduct research into what the purpose of a railway station is. Or perhaps there were other factors behind these seemingly poor choices.

I'm not entirely sure although I suspect you may be comparing the Gospel Oak to Barking Line with the electrified North London Line, as 2 car 172s replaced 2 car 150s on the GOBLin and 4 car 378s replaced 4 car 508s on the NLL.
I think it's caused as the metal heats up and cools down and expands and contracts. With the amount of metal on tracks this has quite an effect in some places.
It's better to have a litter problem than explosions happening.
