GSM-R failure due to infrastructure fault is in the Western Sectional Appendix as I've said.
As for the rest of the arguments, I suggest we just leave it there.
Hex or Heathrow Connect - not sure which. Several GWR drivers have stories of being at a stand after receiving a REC only to see a Hex or Connect service go sailing past! Saw it myself at Southall about 18 months ago. Apparently this is because one or other is or was at the time still on CSR, or...
Yes. Non-technical skills. There are essentially four components to being competent at a task like train driving. To put it very simply, functional skills (reading/writing etc.), technical skills (knowing which buttons to press), underpinning knowledge (e.g., the Rule Book), and non-technical...
So if the measures taken are appropriate, proportionate and not used as a punishment, why do you have a problem with them? Or if you do see them as inappropriate and disproportionate, what justification do you have for coming to that conclusion?
Manager: Driver, I've had a report that you were...
I don't have a problem with any of those measures, as long as they're appropriate, proportionate, flexible, and not used as a form of punishment. If that's not the case at your TOC, then someone there needs to read RSSB's T1068 Good Practice Guide.
If an incident results from NTS failings, then...
There's a track debris camera in the non-driving side windscreen on newer Electrostars, which is what the spotlight in the valance is for. The FFCCTV camera is a separate one in the driver's side windscreen.
The 800 headlights have to be set to 'full' to comply with the current standard. The...
Nope, just trying to help you become a better, more professional driver.
But if I were your manager, and you regularly forgot not just to set the taillights, but also to check that you'd done so, I'd be concerned not just by the NTS failings, but also by the flippant response.
They may not present a huge safety risk, but are likely to be a significant performance risk. And represent an NTS failing that could be indicative of a wider problem if it's repeated behaviour.
Absolutely. The important thing is to reduce the risk of a repeat occurrence. What are you doing to mitigate against doing it again, particularly in relation to the NTS around working methodically/systematically and checking?
Depends what position the headlight switch is in. If it's set to 'Auto' then yes the tails turn off when the cab is activated. But if it's set to tails, the tails will stay on (or go to markers if it's set to markers, or off if it's set to off etc...)
