Does anyone know if there's much else to do at Batley on the Up, Manchester bound side? I visited for the first time in a while today and there seems to be a lot of works materials etc there just for installing the overheads and finishing off the footbridge. I know there's no plans for the speculated on loop, but I wondered if there could be anything happening access-wise, which has never been good from the East for as long as I've known it despite an old access road to Grange Road, and is currently a bit worse off with a footpath directly to the station from Back Station Road blocked by the footbridge work?
I've noticed that the Jo Cox memorial garden has been removed from the Down platform and replaced by a couple of containers. Hopefully this is just a temporary measure and it will be reinstated at the end of the works.
Not sure if this has been mentioned in another thread, but the 144 Pacer where the men's shed used to be at Huddersfield Station appears to have been cut up on site.

Latest TRU official video says big push this final weekend of the current 16day blockade with most attention being at Deighton where the stairs and footbridges are due to be lifted in.
Also note from one of latest Tim Youtube videos that a turnout has been positioned at the Hudds end of the recently laid fast lines. Access soon for a tamper from the existing perhaps?

Generally not much of excitement in the last few days of big blocks like this - contingency time, site tidy ups, wheels free signalling testing, track stressing etc. Doesn't make exciting viewing!

All of the track on the Huddersfield Viaduct will be completed in Dec26-Feb27 (final alignment), so theoretically a tamper may access the lines if under possession, the fast lines will then be laid but not "in-use" until the end of 2027 I believe. Mid 27 is the Thornhill closure for re-routing the lines via Baker Viaduct and then that winter is the completion of the 4-tracking IIRC, electrification following in 28.

It seems that the north tunnels are being laid for single track again - and the track is in the centre of the bore. [The Huddersfield south tunnel contains two tracks: the self-contained Penistone line and the westbound Standedge]
Whilst I hadn't expected the north tunnels to be laid with two tracks (ie. early preparation for the next phase of works), I had thought the alignment would have been laid with room for another track to make three going west which is the grand plan up to Standedge. I started looking but couldn't find any useful plans on network rail or the TPU site about this.
Re TPU signalling.
With all the recent pictures an videos of progress on the new fast lines and Huddersfield station it got me wondering about the signalling which these dosn't appear to be any sign.
Leeds Dewsbury was completed a while back. Is the existing line from Dewsbury to Hudds to remain as is with new on the fast lines or total replacement?
Also, surely the couple of existing signals preventing completion of the fast lines which stop either side will to be moved soon on to gantrys even if temporary .

Love how there’s posters everywhere about the mid week and weekend closures but nothing mention why there’s further closures at huddersfield, a lot if football commuters like to travel by train and they say the few weeks of closing finished on Friday but will be running on weekends including 10th October which restricts a lot of travel for the town matches, adding 30 minutes each way doesn’t make travelling to Huddersfield very appealing

Yeah it harms a lot of travellers when they said it would be over by early October and they can run during the week so you’d think the engineering was over for a while, it’s like if people abandon the train and they’ve done all this work, I gotta get back to Cross Gates, so a bus to Brighouse then 2 trains, I could get a lift in under a hour
Stunning progress recently.
The new fast lines are mostly down from Huds to Deighton with lots of steelwork up.
Also 4 tracks and new steelwork Heaton Lodge to Mirfield.
Full wiring is up from west of Garforth to just short of Church Fenton, including at Micklefield Jn.
The steelwork/cantilever/registration gap to the old wires at Copley Hill has been closed, like ready for wiring.
All very impressive.
There's a stack of mast foundation cylinders for piling just west of Gledholt tunnels.
And on the return journey I noticed 5 piles installed west of Gledholt tunnels, reducing the gap to Stalybridge!

It has all gone very quiet from Tim and Sarah, which I find very surprising.
Going back to last weekend, does anybody know, was the rest of the A62 road bridge demolished and also was the new footbridges at Deighton Station installed?

It looks like very little changed over the last few days - perhaps job done. I did get a TPU official video in youtube today, also pretty good - short but they have all the best locations..
I may be wrong, but it will be much the same as the just-gone blockade for Gledholt.
Trains will still run via Brighouse and Calder Valley, Huddersfield Stn shut and Penistone Line working to/from Lockwood.
I don't know to what extent trains will run Stalybridge to Marsden although I would guess at trains being able to turn back just like the recent blockade.
This may not be totally new, but the 3rd track in the Calder Valley (the Up Slow) appears to be decommissioned.
My 802 stayed on the former Up Fast between Thornhill and Heaton Lodge Jns.
No doubt this is so the new Fast lines can be installed, and about half of the length west of Mirfield is already laid.
The new track isn't yet laid on the new curve at Heaton Lodge.
Thanks
I live at Deighton but being disabled i cannot get down there at the moment, i thought it was completed as the Big Green Crane and 2 lorries with all the counter weights passed my house on Monday night

As the previous reply, i agree as the aim is to get Huddersfield station completed, not sure about Deighton station as of yet, and back in full use at the end of the blockade in February

There is still three track railway in this section. There were some switches around here last year but there hasn't been any since December 25, apart from the laying of some new portions which are not yet connected. Next changes here aren't until May next year.

If you're referring to the track serving platform 3 at Mirfield for West-bound services being decommissioned, then that section is still active. It's also the only route which traffic from the Wakefield line can use including freight.
A couple of photos taken in Huddersfield on Sunday afternnon. Overhead line gantries installed on the viaduct. Just east of Fitzwilliam street.
These ones are bolted onto both sides of the viaduct. Because there will be 5 tracks in this area because of the platform 6 track. I think a bit further east (towards Deighton) then they are bolted on the side on the south side (right and side going to Deighton). The North side have pads next to the track on the viaduct.
Re Church Fenton Bridge replacement.
Is removal of the decking with the associated line closure still on this weekend 10th 11th Oct as per TPU upgrade site?
