Very much agree, this would be an excellent liveryMight be boring I actually think the centre car looks better, leaving the Red and white strips to the front and last carriages only.

I find it a bit too plain, to be honest. I prefer the design shown in the renders of the IET centre car. I’ve seen that Hornby have already shown models of the IET with the original design, so those will have to be re-made.That looks so much better than the mess we saw in the renders of the IET centre car...
I agree, the Northern livery always looks unfinished to me on anything that isn't a 2-car unit.I think the blank car really shows the design up... It's just blank, looks unfinished.
I don't live but not do I hate the flaggy pointy stuff on the end cars, but I'd have some kind of horizontal feature running along the "back" half of the end cars and any/all centre cars.
They've shown digital renders and one pre-production sample for promotional purposes, but there's nothing there that needs to be physically remade: The production models may well be being manufactured now for delivery towards the end of this year, but Hornby have been quite savvy in offering the driving cars separate to the intermediate vehicles, so it may be that the release date of just the centre car gets pushed back until whenever the IET scheme gets finalised.I’ve seen that Hornby have already shown models of the IET with the original design, so those will have to be re-made.
When EWR is done to Bedford they'll be replaced by the new EWR stock, whatever that may be, because it won't be 196s at that point I believe. Speaking of EWR, I sort of think Chiltern will never run one with Chiltern branding, it'll probably just be revinyled into GBR before EWR opens.I've just thought that the LNWR 150s have no prospect of replacement for the minute, so could be the oldest trains to gain GBR livery.
You have of course seen the handful of 196/0s in Chiltern livery? When EWR is done to Bedford they'll be replaced by the new EWR stock, whatever that may be, because it won't be 196s at that point I believe. In the flesh. But since GBR is probably going to be revinyling something, and they usually go for the newest unit in the fleet, I figure there's a decent chance of them going for 196s. Would also make it look like GBR got EWR open right as they came in.You have of course seen the handful of 196/0s in Chiltern livery?
They currently say the early 2030s, so that’s still quite a few years away. When EWR is done to Bedford they'll be replaced by the new EWR stock, whatever that may be, because it won't be 196s at that point I believe. That's 100% What's happening. Not letting Chiltern open it and making them look incompetent so GBR can open it themselves when they take over and claim it as their own win.In the flesh. The only thing which we know for certain will be coming in the future are the rest of the Class 357s which are still in National Express c2c livery, and Alstom has said that each of those takes 20 days to refurbish and paint into the new white-and-magenta c2c livery. Presuming that the new, more complex GBR livery doesn’t take longer than that to apply, since all the Class 357s are being re-painted rather than vinyled, then we should be seeing 357 201 in it in the not-too-distant future as the 7th overall train in GBR livery, followed by 202 and 203, according to the Class 357 re-paints thread, then the 18 other 357/2s and /3s which haven’t yet been re-painted (the rest of the 357/0s (apart from 008 and 020 in GBR) and some of the 357/2s and /3s have already been re-painted into the new white-and-magenta c2c livery), which will give a total of 23 Class 357s in the GBR livery, out of 74 Class 357s total, which is 31.1%: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/c2c-legacy-fleet-repaints.301442/#post-7870376Anything happening today the 31st, livery wise?
Ah it ended up being a testing of the Euston Blockade:The only thing which we know for certain will be coming in the future are the rest of the Class 357s which are still in National Express c2c livery, and Alstom has said that each of those takes 20 days to refurbish and paint into the new white-and-magenta c2c livery. When they get to the 357/3s, then we will see what they’ll do with the metro branding that’s currently on them (and which has also been applied on the /3s already re-painted into the new white-and-magenta c2c livery).
Since the GBR Anglia-liveried ex-Greater Anglia Class 720/5 and /1, 501 and 144, have already run on the ex-c2c Essex Thameside/London, Tilbury and Southend Railway routes, I am not sure that we should expect any of the ex-c2c Class 720/6s (which are newer than the ex-Greater Anglia Class 720s) to be re-vinyled into the GBR Anglia livery yet.

Avanti West Coast 390016 \(numbered 390200\) rolls to a halt in Platform 7 at London Paddington\. Why? As best I can tell, because it can.
Agree with youI've just thought that the LNWR 150s have no prospect of replacement for the minute, so could be the oldest trains to gain GBR livery.

Actually scratch that, maybe the Night Riviera mk3s?I've just thought that the LNWR 150s have no prospect of replacement for the minute, so could be the oldest trains to gain GBR livery.
1. They will be the same - when the livery was launched, it was shown mocked-up on both a Class 80x Intercity Express Train as Inter-City stock, and on a Desiro U.K. with front gangway as commuter stock:1. Are the "Intercity" operators going to be gaining the same livery as the rest of the network? I think it would make sense to distinguish this.

Northern units coming back from the works are just blue and white now with no mention of "Northern" currently anywhere on the outside. This is very recent thing so make of it what you will regards to the 15x units getting a simple GBR logo on the side sometime soon.
Not entirely sure if that's just a one off though as 155345 has only just come back and has full Northern branding on itNorthern units coming back from the works are just blue and white now with no mention of "Northern" currently anywhere on the outside. 1. Probably, like mentioned above. I've been told by a connection that the livery shown in that earlier screenshot from the launch deck is subject to tweaks but that's the general gist of it, so don't expect anything hugely different. That said, there could be customisations. They're very aware of what people are saying online.1. Are the "Intercity" operators going to be gaining the same livery as the rest of the network? I think it would make sense to distinguish this. Perhaps they are and I missed the topic?
2. I am surprised GBR would apply the livery to the very oldest examples on the network - specifically the Sprinters (not including the 158/9s) but I am sure there are other examples which are just as old which I've missed there. I would have thought the idea is to associate the livery and brand with modern stock and older stock which is still well looked upon.
3. Which operators will be exempt from the GBR livery and branding? I assume Merseyrail, the Welsh and ScotRail networks are but those are the only ones I can think off.
That it's just absolutely, utterly awful?1. They're very aware of what people are saying online.
Well, people's opinions, yeah. I quite like it in person, but this is the internet and everyone has an opinion. They pay attention to people's thoughts and have considered some of the criticisms that people have given. See v1 (the photoshopped IET) vs v2 (the 701 and 387) and v3 (the 720 and 357). It's developing. That it's just absolutely, utterly awful?
By all means call it GBR if you must, but at least come up with a decent livery that isn't a flag tastelessly plastered all over trains.
No, it was being applied before they got back - they’ve stopped applying it at refurb for the specific reason of new GBR logos being applied across DFTO fleets in the coming months. Are they gaining Northern branding once back at their home depots though?
