From what I can see in terms of yutongs the 45 now seems to require 4 vehicles all day (used to be 2 branded all day with a spare helping at peak times) and the changes to the greens seem to have increased demand by 2 vehicles.

I’d assume on that basis that yellows 271/2 will probably end up on greens whilst ex navy 3s 276/7/8 will probably end up spare?

The new yutong e12s announced for next year will presumably consist of either 4 for the 45 (201/2 go spare) and 3 for the 90 or 2 for 45, 3 for 90 and 2 spares?

Why not just repaint two of the ex Navy Line ones Red?

I can't imagine why NCT would want to go to the bother of getting four new red buses and repaint the two existing ones when it would be cheaper to get just two new red ones.

But then again, the last time they ordered gas buses, they then decided they'd bought too many orange ones and repainted some of the old orange ones.

The navy 3s are E10s vs the current 45s being E12s. Depends how much demand for the route requires the additional capacity of an E12 now i suppose

On the first day on the new route (monday) they were using a spare e400 double decker so they might be testing the need for a higher demand vechile, however when it passed (it was going to rivendelle and carlton) at rivendelle it was empty, however the route to city was fairly busy (especially after the retial park). This was at 8am tho so not really generalisable from what I saw.

Like what one of the other reply said, it wouldn't make much sense to make 201/2 spares. NCT have already got a rogue 75 plate branded for the 30 (and 28...) in a small batch of 73 plates, but to be honest, I don't know why they didn't make 220 a spare and simply repaint 211 or 212 pink

Probably for the same reason you said they didnt make 201 and 202 spares - it wouldn’t really make any sense to. I don’t think NCT care about having buses of different ages in common pools - look at the lilac/lime/orange biogas fleets for example. And why should they - there’s barely any difference from a passenger perspective. The only thing I couldn’t seem them doing is having a mix of E10s and E12s branded for the same route/group (and even then..)

Some of the gas buses do have different seat types. I'm not even sure why!

Wasn't the first time that NCT buses have had Isringhausen seats rather than Lazzerini seats, as I recall that the last lot of Omnidekkas on the 48 had them.

The 27 makes sense alongside the Ultroliners on the 24 I guess. And do you mean 6 as in Green 6 or 6 buses for the 27?

I was in the city centre yesterday, around 10:30 & surprised to see an 11 using a Pathfinder 90! Around the same time a 90 goes past using an unbranded dekka. Quite a lot travelling too.
Same situation around 9pm!
I honestly can’t remember when I last saw the wrong bus on the wrong route :-/

NCT often announce they’re using double deckers on the 90 for certain journeys that line up with football marches or cricket at Trent Bridge. This weekend it was the latter with double deckers on the 90 from Saturday - Monday. Likely that they were a Yutong down somewhere so a Solo SR was covering.

Buses on ‘wrong’ routes aren’t hugely uncommon, with many being scheduled that way for school/peak extras. Trent Bridge based routes are probably more likely to see ‘random’ wrong routes

Although it’s usually Parliament Street based whereas the 1 runs out of Trent Bridge. Seems to be helping out at Trent Bridge so far this week

631-6 all seem to be based at trent bridge currently. Maybe a permanent change as some will be needed for the 4 in uni time now that the omnidekkas have been withdrawn

The 1 seems to have been reliant on a couple of spares recently.

hopperbus contract has been won by NCT, have a feeling it’s to do with using electric vehicles. No official details as of yet but announcements will come in due course

It would definitely be interesting to see some buses in (any) NCT livery at the Royal Derby Hospital, and that is if they have taken over the hopper bus routes at all

It wouldn’t be the first time - after the demise of YourBus, the operation of the university hopper buses was a joint venture between NCT and Wellglade, with NCT providing the vehicles, Notts & Derby providing the drivers, and trentbarton doing the publicity side of things.

Yes - although in the context of the comment about NCT livery in Derby, I was thinking of the days immediately after the joint venture took the contract on, when NCT liveried vehicles were used because it had all been arranged at such short notice.

I would imagine there is a requirement for branded buses similar to how the medilink is for skills. Unsure how it works in terms of allowing generic/spares in the event of breakdown etc
