Verstappens rear wing incident again shows the risk drivers are taking going into corners if the rear wing doesn't flip over correctly and provide anticipated down force. Not every circuit has such generous run off areas and FIA should be mindful about the risk some of these gimmicks are bringing to the sport in an attempt to spice up the racing.

Teams already fuel their cars based on the chance of safety cars. If a team (and they all do it) short fuel their cars because there is a higher chance of safety cars then adding more laps isn‘t going to help.

Thats a strategy issue. If they dont have a safety car they run out of fuel anyway, so no issue. They use so little fuel under the safety car that this is not an issue and there will still always be a reduction in green flag laps as the only ones you get back are from letting lapped runners through

Agreed, they appear to have opted for a higher efficiency package with lower margins for error at the moment which seems to be at odds with Verstappens driving style of wanting a car that tends to oversteer and wanting greater rotation.

There was no need for a safety car at all. A virtual safety car would have been sufficient, since although a vehicle needed to enter the gravel trap to retrieve a car, a distinct lack of rain meant the risk of a Japan 2014 type tragedy was almost zero, with there being no rain and the addition of a virtual safety car compared to the conditions of that trajedy. There is probably a greater risk to life by having a Safety Car restart with all of the cars grouped together.

Verstappen went off in the dry, but he's just an untalented newbie, so that doesn't count. The safety of the people outside cars matters too. They reduce risk by not putting marshalls in places where cars go off the track at high speed.

I think the speeds with a virtual safety car are lower than with a Safety car since no cars have to go faster than others in order to catch the safety car. There is much more risk of someone crossing or walking on the pavement of a public road being it by a car than there would have been to marshals being hit by a car under a virtual safety car.

Be interesting to see how Liam goes, could do well or be a nightmare especially with it being a sprint weekend. I would have thought they’d have put Yuki in the Red Bull car especially as Isack will probably return for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza

Ferrari have presented a special one-off livery for their home race at Monza, paying tribute to seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher.

It is now 30 years since the German joined the Scuderia, and 20 years since his final victory with the team – scored at the 2006 Chinese Grand Prix.

As well as claiming five of his world titles with the Maranello-based squad, Schumacher bagged five Monza wins in red (in 1996, 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006).

Heading into the weekend, Ferrari revealed bespoke race suits that will be worn by current drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, featuring Schumacher’s logo and the seven stars he used to carry on his helmet to signify his seven titles.On Tuesday morning, the outfit followed up on those comments by showcasing a Schumacher-inspired car livery, again noting the details above around their usual 2026 design.

Ferrari explained that this week’s wide-ranging tributes are inspired by Schumacher’s “impact on the racing world” and “his enduring mindset”.

Very in the 96 car, the win at Spain in the rain was brilliant lapping a good couple of seconds a lap faster than anyone else
