Was 222013 one that failed Saturday as well? I think it was Cricklewood overnight (as was 222103) having been taken out of service at West Hampstead from 1F57 St Pancras International to Sheffield. Cricklewood doesn't appear to have the best facilities for fitter attention.

Just got on to be told "the fault on this train has reoccured so we will be further delayed".
How do you think they'd respond to me asking "hey, do you mind telling me what the fault is so I can post it on railforums?"
Never mind, cancelled at Kettering. Everyone onto the following Aurora! The meridian was already packed, this is going to be hellish.

9R50 1852 Three Bridges to Bedford in front of 1D54 2005 St Pancras International to Nottingham between Carlton Road Junction and Radlett Junction caused it two minutes of delay, but doesn't explain why it has now been taken out of service at Kettering after more late running.

Another one with buggered cab HVAC. Even on a relatively cool evening there's enough equipment in a confined space to make things very uncomfortable.

Yes, 222013 also failed on Monday too. I had it from Sheffield beforehand, and it had multiple issues, including 2 engine failures.

Would have thought they would have had plenty of time to sort this out when the line was closed at Bedford for 9 days.Only a fraction of the trains timetabled actually ran.1 an hour Sheffield-Bedford,1 an hour Nottingham-Bedford hardly uses any trains.

Notwithstanding the fact that there are only four ’roads’ at Etches Park north shed. There’s no guarantee that Hitachi would have had the staff availability to make full use of the unexpected vehicle downtime.

Looking at the St Pancras departures, I would guess that combined 4 units across 222 and 810 fleets have stopped playing. Earlier today, it showed units allocated to all services, running with 4x 10-car departures in the peak, which means 23-ish sets in service. At the time of writing RTT is now showing that only one will be, but there is also have a gap with no unit allocated to the 1832 Sheffield, and just about running everything 5 car takes about 19.
This does seem to be a rather typical day in that just about enough get sent out in the morning, but come the evening peak the fleet short-forms are inevitable and cancellations pretty common. That is normal. However, still getting days with absolutely shambolic performance (e.g. Thursday 2nd and Saturday 4th).
This thread will be a year old next week, no sign that Hitachi have really got a handle on things. Which must be pretty embarrassing, if you are a Hitachi manager.
However, what is probably happening is some Commercial Director that's a long way from the front line is looking at the contract performance on the 810 job, which must be absolutely dire, and is refusing further spend on getting Alstom to get 222s into shape.

This would be the operationally obvious thing to do, provided they have the capacity to do the work (I assume they do as at least a few ex-XC units are in storage).

222008/222016/222021/810022 all failed today, and it's only 4pm, plenty time for extra failures later...
Currently the service requires 17/21 222s (although 222011 is having damage repair and hasn't worked since May), and 6/12 810s in service.

222009 stepped up for a 810 diagram, working the 18:05 from St. Pancras to Nottingham, but that itself failed and thus the service ended up being cancelled.
A truly sorry state of affairs, with it being a yo-yo between the 222s and 810s, as to which one(s) will be the next to fail.

As I understood it, the 222s are due off late summer.. Whilst units up to about 810020 have been delivered, most of the lower numbered ones haven't, being modified, on test /driver training etc. Squeaky bum time. Oh and 810015 had the accident at Bedford.
Worst part is, this situation was predictable and avoidable.

You know that. I know that. Okay, in a perfect world, the new trains would have worked "straight out of the box".. But whilst they look like the ones that went before, they are effectively a different train....
We have 10x 810s (minus 015) in passenger service, the plan was for all 33 to be with us by early 2027. The 222s should all be gone by the end of December 2026, with them due to leave in quick succession from late summer

I've only ridden on two. 810012 and 810016. On the day, they were fine . I am confident all the issues will be sorted out in time.

222010 has failed on 1C92, at a rather incontinent place, with that being on the 2-track section at Duffield. Currently running 50+ mins late.

Not sure it's 1C92 that's in trouble. It has on the move approaching Long Eaton at 2117. Just wondering if there's an incident at Duffield station area. 2A34 going to Matlock has stopped for some time but has just started moving and 1C95 is at a standstill for a while. 1E67 1627 Plymouth Leeds now going via Toton and the erewash.
Cows on the line at Duffield. Quite a lot of them...

1F47 to London to Sheffield worked by 222102 has packed up and been terminated in P1 at Kettering. Everyone turfed off and made to go across to P4 for the next northbound service (which is a Nottingham.)

Stopped out of place on 1H42 the Connect service into St Pancras at St Albans. Apparently a 222 has broken down outside St Pancras with a brake fault and all up EMR services are at a standstill and backing up as far as Luton.
I can see both 1D56 and 1B58 having been outside STP for over 40 minutes. Not looking good.
Control have given us authority to be released from the train to take a Thameslink from the slow lines into StP low level as we have been told there is no eta for movement of our service.

The trouble is that, if there are delays due to cows on the line, EMR will probably milk it as an excuse for delays across their network
My understanding is it's a health alert, not a weather alert, so it seems unlikely.
Indeed, EMR are being disingenuous using it at all to justify cancellations.
Correction, the link given on their X feed is wrong, you can still get to the page via their website.

About time too. Perhaps they finally realised how ridiculous they seemed, continuing to directly blame "forecast severe weather" when the temperature was a perfectly normal for July mid twenties maximum. I'd assumed that the real issue was the fallout from previous extreme heat (on top of the existing reliability options) and this confirms it.
