Annoying television adverts...

Electoral Commission ad keeps coming up on my colleague's Spotify, I swear they say "register to vote" nearly a dozen times in 30 seconds...
It takes something like that to get through to some potential voters.

Lidl used to do it saying it is Leeeeee-dl. They gave up rather quickly.

What bothers me more about car adverts is not what is said but what is shown. How many have "not UK specification" or "UK specification may differ"? You should be marketing a product how we would buy it, not some other version because you're being cheap and not wanting to film several adverts!
Cars have always been sold on style and aspirations, - gadgets are upselling devices once the buyer is on the threshold of signing.

I see them a lot on Facebook, Reddit, hear them on the radio etc.

I don't really find them annoying though. I'd much rather hear a PSA advert than another gambling advert.

It's more that they are nearly always left hand drive, and often with options that are not available in this market.

As well as left-hand drive. There are also differences in how the lighting systems are set out. Also, speedometers reading in KMH. Although, on my car. This can be changed from MPH.

Just watched the worst advert I've seen for ages, for Holland and Barrett. Listening to your body(health) is the theme with microphones placed near parts of the body like knees and stomach, singing with voices from people who are tone deaf. Sorry awful.

We have this annoying nonsense from Telstra.
Crumbs, watching that is even more painful than having to deal with Telstra’s customer services team.

There’s an advert constantly on Sky Sports for some crypto scam app which really really annoys me. Booming voice about how you can “build wealth” by using their scammy crypto scam app. Basically Andrew Tate in advert form.

I think you're on about Trading212. Not really a crypto scam at all as their primary area of business is brokering stocks and ETFs. Also fully authorised and regulated by the FCA.

Not just on Sky Sports and @Floss63 has already mentioned the ad on here, back in March 2026, in post #1881. Supposedly you're covered by the FSCS if this outfit were to fail, but it still seems, on the face of it, to be a risky £££ proposition / bit of a gamble.
The ad for the Trading 212 app, which begins "Build wealth...." First time I saw it I was convinced it was an AI voiceover. It sounds weird and a bit creepy to me.

I'm starting to get bored stiff with 85 year old Iris's 43 road trips etc etc to the extent that I'd be looking for a different undertaker if I needed to arrange a funeral...

I have a friend who works for the National Trust section that deals with the structural upkeep of properties and he is really annoyed by the Range Rover Sport TV advert that shows a man driving up the main central steps to a large property. I think he noticed that there was a storage room under those steps with a small window, where luggage of visitors to the property would have been stored during their stay in days of yore and on checking the weight of the vehicle in question iand is of the opinion that the stone steps would have succumbed to the weight of the said vehicle.

I'm sure that NT extracted enough cash from the ad agency for maybe 2 or 3 actual runs of the vehicle including an insurance policy should there be any unexpected damage to the fabric of the building. So, once the sequence is 'in the can', no matter how many times it is shown on TV, there will be no more issues with the entrance steps than had it not been used.

https://harewood.org/stories/making-the-impossible-possible-with-range-rover/ Has a brief description of how the advert was filmed.
The Terrace and all it’s flagstones were covered with a load-spreader mat and the stairs themselves were protected with custom made aluminium profiled track covers for the vehicle to travel on, ensuring the wheels never actually touched the historic steps.
Only three tries were permitted and after each one, the steps and slabs were carefully inspected for any potential signs of cracking. Thanks to the extensive preparations, none were found.
Clearly they’ve done such a good job of making it look real to worry someone watching it.

I note that the car in question is stated to have all non-essential weight removed in this description and of the protective steps taken (hidden from view) and have passed the story information to my friend. So it is not the full truth of the matter and all it will take is one petrolhead to attempt to repeat the process to see what really does happen in similar circumstances.

Don't worry no petrolhead will repeat what was shown in the ad as no Land Rover works for long enough to be able to!

I do recall driving behind a Land Rover years ago with a sticker with words to the effect "The parts flying off this vehicle are of the finest British quality"

Not a TV advert, but currently the banner adverts from a posh underwear company offering various designer (mostly) female underwear for £50+... Particularly annoying as it's one of those adverts which are not static.

Still better than adverts from those Chinese drop shippers

I misunderstood @Xenophon PCDGS 's reference to a friend who worked for NT and was concerned that the use of the steps might impart permanent damage to the property.
Given the family are related to his nibs the king, it's unlikely that Harewood House will come within the NT's clutches any time soon. In any event the estate must make loads from the fact that the permanent Emmerdale set is on their land.

So nobody needs to worry about the current owners of the place damaging a place of historical interest just to make a bit of money from commercial advertisers then.

Damaging a piece of historical interest in order to make money is not what would normally be recommended practice. We are grateful that a thread contributor made a posting of what actually took place during the filming of the TV advert, which was not at all made obvious in the actual advertisment. I cannot ever recall a coach and four attempting the same actions in any TV advert that I can recall.

Of course, many buildings of note have been totally demolished or left in a ruined state in order to cease taxation liabilities. However, such family premises under control of ruling monarchs seem totally unaffected by such matters.

Does anyone know what song is played in the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home TV advert and what language it is in?

Nor did I say or imply that it was, - just that you (and the rest of us) do not need to fret over any damage. The fact that it looked like no protection measures were taken doesn't mean that they weren't, (as a poster in this thread has informed us). Don't forget, filmakers and TV producers have been creating images from mundane reality for over a century such that the end user cannot easily see how it was done.
