Would I be correct in thinking that the line will probably not open until about Easter 2026 ? My understanding is that it is expected that most of the work on the stations should be finished by the end of 2025 but that this will need to be followed by staff training?

I have seen rumours that the reopening of the line will be delayed but as usual no official confirmation that I am aware of.

Not sure what staff training will be necessary. WMR should have station staff ready to draft in. It is not as if they did not have many stations already in the city and surrounding area.
Drivers and guards already sign the line as it is a diversionary route for the New Street to Worcester and Hereford route. My guess is that they will run a ghost service for a couple of weeks before opening.
RTT already shows Q trains (runs as required) on the line.

West Midlands website updated today states that roadworks outside Kings Heath & Pineapple Road stations are complete and that the stations are expected to open in Spring 2026. Anyone got any information regarding whether 'Spring' is likely to mean March. April, or May?

I couldn't see any threads on this. Any news on how this is progressing, what still needs doing and when it is likely to open, sometime in 2026?
Apparently services should commence in 2026. I passed Kings Heath station yesterday and it looks to be in the later stages of completion.

Definitely 1st half of 2026. Train crew are currently being reminded of their responsibility to keep the route refreshed for competency. Station guides due in the new year

If I'm not mistaken it looks like some of the test runs between New Street and Kings Norton have begun.

Can anyone point me at a link on Real Times Trains? Is there a code for Kings Heath or Pineapple Road?
KIH = Kings Heath
PIR = Pineapple Road

The stations appear to be showing "no report", but Lifford East Jn is reporting fine, see below:

196010 on it today

Had a quick look in the system and some trains appear to have run today (Friday) probably as trainers.
5Q91 0225 BHM-KNN
5Q91 0318 KNN-BHM
5Q91 0339 BHM-TYS
shown as 196010 off 5Q90 and 172336 which obviously wouldn't be both

Later
5T09 0754 TYS-KNN formed of 196108 then
5T10
5T13
5T14
5T17
5T18
5T21
5T22 1150 KNN-BHM

No reports after that so guessing it went back to TYS

EDIT
5Q90 was a 2243 TYS-BHM on Thursday evening which was
BHM 2256 2332
MOV 2351 2355
KIH 2358 0001
PIN 0002 0002
BMV 0015 0028
PIN 0045 0100
KIH 0107 0117

Apparently building work on the 3 stations (and another 2 WM stations) is now complete:

Building Work Completed

"Mayor Richard Parker has announced the completion of construction on five new stations in Birmingham and the Black Country which will reconnect communities to the railway network for the first time in decades

The stations, three on the Camp Hill Line in south Birmingham and two between Walsall and Wolverhampton, are now built and ready for operator West Midlands Railway to begin testing and preparations for passenger services early in 2026.

To mark the end of construction the Mayor unveiled a station name sign at the new Willenhall station.

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and the West Midlands Rail Executive (WMRE) have worked with partners to fund and build the stations, which will offer new opportunities for residents and support investment in homes and businesses along the routes."

Latest update on the five new stations from Transport Matters (by Peter Plisner - former BBC Midlands Today correspondent) just popped up on my YouTube app:

Five new railways stations are due to open in the West Midlands. Moseley Village, King's Heath, Pineapple Road in south Birmingham and Willenhall and Daraston in the Black Country. But when will they open?

The answer seems to be March or April.

I decided to take a look at the new Station at Kings Heath this morning. Not quite finished yet.

I know it's not intentional, but on the Pineapple Road signboard, the TfWM logo actually looks like a stylised pineapple!

196009 (in Chiltern livery) looks like it's out testing the route and station stops today.
