I was onboard from Truro today, the delayed 1502 to Penzance. After about 15 minutes waiting onboard at the station an announcement came through that due to a problem with the doors we should get off and await the next service and I see this train was cancelled.
Hi, I`m interested to know if you have any further details surrounding the potential door problem or problems that caused the unit to fail as it was unusual for a 175 to be withdrawn from traffic with a door issue as there was usually a work around to keep it in service unless it was a No1 end bodyside door issue that couldn`t be rectified easily or "a wrong side failure" which was extremely rare.
Door faults were varied but mostly fell into a small number of categories, all or one bodyside door fails to arm and open/fails to close correctly as requested, doors access/egress handle issues usually not set correctly and cab and bodyside doors can have unrelated faults.
Majority of doors faults were usually easily rectifiable in service for unit to continue to a maintenance facility or End of day.
I did notice in your picture that both cars bodyside hazard lights were illuminated but this is not unusual in a platform environment.
Look forward to any further information that you may have, no matter how insignificant. Thanks.
