Read into this how you see it but tomorrow's (3/12/2025) 0700 Sheffield to St Pancras on RTT shows up dmu but changes en-route. Possibly a 810 working. Other 222 workings just show as diesel multiple unit throughout.

This is discussed upthread. They are pathed as this but this is no indication of it actually being operated by an 810

1c17 was shown in the same way this morning, but was a 222. Note it also says "pathed as class 810" from Kilby Junction both today and tomorrow.

CHIME WHISTLE PUBLISHING ON X: A source at EMR has just DM me to say that a 810 will, hopefully!, enter service tomorrow (Weds 3 December). Let's hope no one gets stuck in the lavatory

I'm hearing that a pair of 810's are now available (no unit numbers). So it appears the toilet issues are remedied. No indication whether both units will run tomorrow though a pair of diagrams was planned to be 810's from today - as the timing loads indicate.

Live Rail Record - showing 810010 allocated to 0700 Sheffield to St Pancras tomorrow

also Realtime trains showing 810010 allocated

Glad they've finally (hopefully) squished those gremlins.

And if not, then I'm sure whichever poor sod gets locked in the bog will be handsomely compensated.

Just don't drink too much tea or coffee so you don't have to visit the onboard loos

Just the one out rather than the two originally hoped for this week?

So only this one diagram presumably.

But it’s a start.

Perhaps as a prelude to today's (Wednesday) service entry, 810010 took over Tuesday's afternoon leg of the Etches Park driver training run from 810008. Allocated to the training run today is 810006, the other set reported earlier to be ready for entry to passenger service.

EMR only have 4 units in operation and are normally using 2 for training each day, so it would be quite brave to try to have all 4 in use on day 1.

And all 4 not necessarily to passenger standard.

The plan allegedly always was one, then the following week another set it into use.

Somewhere, not in London
Anyone in the Derby area know if any print/vinyl firm has had a rush job of stickers with words to that effect...? ;)
Or perhaps just design the system to not need to be operated in exactly the correct order?

Sounds a lot like low cost labour software again... Perhaps as an industry we didn't learn from every other fleet that's gone this way?

I'll try to catch up with it at Leicester or Derby this afternoon. Not the first run, but at least the first day ... assuming it lasts that long!

Yes. I just meant that originally this week was the following week. But 1 set is a good start obviously.

Do these trains not have manually locking vestibule-end toilets a la 80x, or are the carriages too short? Not familiar with the interior layout of these.

Good news that one has finally entered service

Yes it is 6 years, 4 months, and few days since they were ordered.

What was said about them then, is probably work relinking, so anyone lucky enough to get one can compare to the EMR press release of July 2019
provide more seats, more services, faster trains and better stations for passengers

RTT is showing slightly extended dwell times at Long Eaton, Loughborough and Leicester, losing a total of about 6 minutes. I wonder what the reason is? Staff being extra careful about the dispatch and door operation process due to lack of familiarity?

Link below to Realtime trains detailed view for 1C17 0700 Sheffield to St Pancras International:

Edit: Looks like the power changeover from Diesel to Electric went OK between Leicester & Market Harborough.

Late start from Sheffield was due to a door issue (hopefully not a toilet one!), so could be that, but could just be a familiarisation issue too.
