Thank you! Yes, it was a good day at Doncaster today, like the old days almost. A shame the Class 50 didn’t run through too, but you can’t have everything!Great video, the Deltic looks and sounds superb! So many other interesting workings too, particularly the Class 93s on Mk4s! Thank you for sharing.

According to Railcam, 57311 is leading, with 37409 on rear. The deltic has failed… replaced by 37409. I was hoping to see it as well
Silly engines… should put something more reliable in!An issue with a piston
It’s fine, it’s been replaced with something more reliable and rateable anywaySilly engines… should put something more reliable in!
They should have a second engine inside, just in case…Silly engines… should put something more reliable in!
Tbf delicious have always been maintenance heavy, when Mr Walker had it he spent loads on it and it kept lasping out of work and had to be subbed by 40145 more than onceNot a good sign for the Deltic. LSL have reportedly spent a lot of money on that loco and it has failed yet again
They have always been complex beasts, but there used to be way more power units, which were simply swapped when one failed, and the faulty one overhauled, then put into a different engine. Were Deltic's this unreliable when they were in regular service on the ECML?
As noted, Deltics have always been complex, highly-strung beasts. What doesn't help is that spare engines/parts aren't anywhere near as plentiful as they once were. RSG has had at least one ex-marine power unit installed in the last decade and a half, an indicator of the extremely short supply of these things as a whole ruling out a relatively straightforward engine swap in the event of serious failure as in BR days. Not a good sign for the Deltic. LSL have reportedly spent a lot of money on that loco and it has failed yet again
I’m assuming it was the ECS back to Crewe.Did 57311 fail to as seen a YouTube video with 90001 hauling the train in the dark or was it a later ECS?
Possibly low on fuel.90001 worked Crewe-Willesden to bring the Ecs back.Did 57311 fail to as seen a YouTube video with 90001 hauling the train in the dark or was it a later ECS?
Something in Scottish livery or two tone green.I’m assuming it was the ECS back to Crewe.
Does anyone know which 47’s are likely to appear on the Scotland-York Statesman on Friday please?
Do you have a source? An issue with a piston
Good news that 012 is heading to Crewe.40013 is off to the ELR currently and will be returning later today on 0Z41. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:R23233/2025-12-05/detailed
A Railcam allocation says it will be hauling 40012 back to Crewe as that loco is "now part of LSL". Is this true and has is been discussed here? If not, what do LSL have planned for her? Screenshot attached is of the Railcam allocation.
EDIT: Yes, just seen this acquisition was reported a few months back.
The sale’s been trailed (and then denied) since the middle of the year with some controversy around folk who believed, possibly mistakenly, that their shareholding constituted shared ownership of 40012.A Railcam allocation says it will be hauling 40012 back to Crewe as that loco is "now part of LSL". It's been purchased by Andania Engineering who owns 40013 and 37402, it's carrying on to Worksop for winter storage40013 is off to the ELR currently and will be returning later today on 0Z41. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:R23233/2025-12-05/detailed

As I understand it a number of people joined the Class Forty Appeal way back in the 1980s with the express intention of preserving a class 40, Back then 40s were a really endangered species because BR wanted to rob components from them for overhauling and dual braking class 20s IIRC. I think the turbos were one component. The sale’s been trailed (and then denied) since the middle of the year with some controversy around folk who believed, possibly mistakenly, that their shareholding constituted shared ownership of 40012.
Cylinder heads were also recovered, read somewhere they were valued at around £1000 each.As I understand it a number of people joined the Class Forty Appeal way back in the 1980s with the express intention of preserving a class 40, Back then 40s were a really endangered species because BR wanted to rob components from them for overhauling and dual braking class 20s IIRC. At one point they owned 37190 and 50007 as well.As I understand it a number of people joined the Class Forty Appeal way back in the 1980s with the express intention of preserving a class 40, Back then 40s were a really endangered species because BR wanted to rob components from them for overhauling and dual braking class 20s IIRC. IIRC CFA were looking specifically at a split headcode loco ie 40135, but were outbid by the CFPS, so 40012 became their loco. No idea how the CFA was structured although I know a number of railway personnel were involved, and not sure if they purchased some kind of share arrangement.
Whoops! Trying to extend the loop? It would be a shame if the loco has been damaged after such a lengthy and expensive overhaul.Sounds like Duke of Gloucester had a incident at Hanwell loops yesterday evening coming off the Saphos charter from Bath to Ely.
