I have a bit of a feature request if I may?

Would it be possible to have when filtering stations some facility to have multiple stations within the filter? For instance, if at Sunderland and looking at trains towards Newcastle on a random Wednesday between 1200 and 1300 in a few months you might put the location as Sunderland then filter by calling point for subsequently to be Newcastle. That would show you one Northern service at 1231. But that misses the bulk of the service. If you refilter for Newcastle (Metro) that reveals the six Tyne and Wear Metro services that run in that same hour but excludes the Northern service.

It would therefore be nice if you could filter the subsequent on a "Calls at X or Y" basis as that would easily allow you to see both sets of services at somewhere like Sunderland.

York to Manchester is similar, as is Edinburgh to Glasgow. I'd expect there will be plenty of other examples, too, especially around London. I guess one way around it could be to create station groups, which appears to be how planning software gets around it.

Oh yes those are good example as well! The one I mentioned came to mind as I was up there last night bemoaning the fact I had to check twice to get the full timetable

Outrageously there are STILL no LNWR 150 graphics uploaded. What kind of operation are they running over at RTT Towers?

Close site now! ;)

If I wanted to be Pedantic I would point out the Northern 769s are not shown correctly - The Pantograph on the MSO is next to the Disabled Toilet on the TSOL - but the graphics are wrong and don't reverse.

But I'm quite happy just to have these graphics compared with what we used to have.

So keep up the good work Tom.

I noted a strange glitch earlier today where the destination is blank. The metadata shows this as the TIPLOC 'BRWSUSX' which is Berwick (Sussex).

That's very odd as Glynde or Berwick is also blank prior to Polegate.

It is a VSTP schedule though so wonder if there was something odd in how it was entered into TRUST.

It's listed as Berwick (Sussex) on railwaycodes, but even then only as a secondary code to the main one which is BERWICK. BRWSUSX hasn't appeared in a CIF file all year, so it's likely that most sites won't recognise it.

I'd guess it was just the wrong code selected when the VSTP was input.

What is this "metadata" thing you're on about? And what does TIPLOC mean?

What is a CIF file? The only acronym I know here is VSTP which is Very Short Term Plan.

Timing Point Location or something like that.
Ah, that answers the TIPLOC part, thanks :)

CIF is short for Common Interchange Format, which is a standard for specifying timetables in.

In the context of train websites in the UK it essentially refers to the full "planned" timetable, including STP schedules and 'P-coded' cancellations, but excluding VSTPs and on-the day cancellations. This is shared by Network Rail overnight in the form of a CIF file.

The CIF files use TIPLOC codes to specify the locations a train is passing through. They also contain a separate record with TIPLOC and name for every location which is referred to in the file (and usually a fair number of others which aren't).

There are TIPLOCs being created and going out of use all the time, as well as a lot which only exist for weird historical reasons, but if a TIPLOC doesn't appear in any CIF files, then it's basically not being used for timetabling, and probably shouldn't have appeared in a VSTP

Berwick (Sussex) has always had issues with the correct TIPLOCs being used as there are different ones in BPLAN vs CIF, etc. its like playing whack a mole.

Have they ever considered deleteing one and just using the other? Just a thought...

Feel free to contact me for any other mindblowing solutions, by the way.

Strangely enough the 375 little image only shows up for some trains - mainly /6s I’ve noticed!

I wonder if it would be possible to implement a feature that allows you to filter for trains by platform? Would be helpful for seeing specific services out of a junction station, for example. Could be a subscription feature.

Also, to hide timetabled bus services that are on the "train" schedule system (for the purpose of them accepting train tickets for "bus+train" journeys).

Aberystwyth for example, I'd just like to see the trains to Shrewsbury/Birmingham (and Machynlleth in the evening), not have about two thirds of the page taken up by the T1 (Carmarthen) and T2 (Bangor etc.) buses.

I do still very much appreciate Realtime Trains of course.
