The 5Z55 is cancelled and replaced with 1Z55 which has just departed Stafford 0915.

The TMS is on all the time in some sort of way. Since DAS isnt an available function at this moment no one knows. Perhaps a comparison can be asked of GWR Hitachi drivers & how they use, or not, DAS?

DAS isn't currently used by GWR drivers. I tend to agree that having the TMS screen illuminated at night is going to be a complete non starter, presumably there is a plan somewhere!

Presumably today's move was cancelled. Is the one run yesterday sufficient for the testing or do they need to run southbound over the Settle and Carlisle?

You can set the TMS screen to night mode whereby it blanks out and only illuminates for station alerts or if a fault appears but whether this works for DAS nobody knows yet.

I can't help but feel this would become terribly distracting if it keeps illuminating for DAS purposes, however we don't use DAS on GWR and I don't know much about it / how often it would light up etc etc.

The concept will be passed off..... but if it is deemed unsafe, distracting, not fit for purpose....etc... It wont get used. One thing at a time though. It needs to be agreed in principle first then made functional.

Since it has only been active on a couple of tests, I'm not sure anyone knows at this time but I'm sure the union & ORR will have something to say if it isn't fit for purpose & doesn't negate the improvement order placed on the TOC. Time will tell.

Very optimistic! I don’t think Avanti have ever bothered running Euston Crewe shuttles to connect to truncated Chesters. I think it’s always just been “shove em onto a Liverpool/Manchester”

The same thing happened during WCRM with Voyagers purloined to run via the Chiltern route, and London-Glasgow via Manchester before the wires via Chat Moss/Bolton went up.
North Wales/Chester passengers are quite used to putting up with shuttles west of Crewe.

807010 is finally back out after being off for several weeks now. It just worked 1A43 Liverpool Lime Street-London Euston.

Latest Modern Railways edition reporting that reliability of the 805 bi-modes is half that of the 807 all electric versions. Engine reliability reportedly getting better but still plenty of reports of low power or at least one engine failed.
