I think this once again highlights that it is time to get more BEMUs in service.
We've got some now, both the 756s at TfW and the 777s at Merseyrail. However, we need to get more.
What is really frustrating is when batteries get brought up to justify not electrifying a line, but the BEMUs then don't actually get ordered.
Southern should have been an all (B)EMU operator about 10 years ago, yet there's still no plan to deploy BEMUs on those very simple routes.
