Trust me, I think the expectation of the interior (especially when BR used to call them "laboratories") makes the test fleet sound a little more glamorous than it is. Most of the 950 is essentially a workshop, small parts an office and another small mess area. Its not half as exciting as you might expect!
I'd say saving a conventional 150 is far more interesting - as is often the way, things like the 950 get saved and all the squadron service units get scrapped, resulting in a rather unique unit with limited appeal being saved over the day to day runners.
