Awwww interesting.

May I ask what depo you applied for?

When did you take your first assessments?
I’ve applied for Swansea and I think the original application was mid 2024. Being patient but also refreshing emails every ten minutes.

Yourself? I’m external would love to speak to someone internal which I do every time I catch a train but think o am starting to bore/ annoy the staff haha

Hahahaha I wouldn't be too concerned about hearing anything back guys, some people here applied back in February 2024 and are yet to sit their assessment days! (Myself)

Which vacancy did you apply for? (When did you apply, for which depot?) It may be we’ve already got a discussion ongoing for the role you’ve applied for :)

You’ve got to remember that Train Driver jobs are extremely sought after and therefore very competitive. The application process is designed to ensure only the right candidates get through.

I applied for trainee train driver just few hours before the job ad closing (Ive saw it and apply straight away). Ive done error test and situational test last week. Today I got email that I need to do video interview. Im really nervous cause I am not familiar with this so I just wanna ask what would I expect in video interview and how the recruitment look like. Ive done some research but there are too much infor so made me a bit confused.

And yes I know this is not an easy job because it is a big responsibility to carry safety for a lot of people all the time while driving a few million quid vehicle.

I’m curious as to if it’s recording answers at a screen or actually conversing with someone. They’re very different experiences

The video interview from what I remember, they ask you the question (on screen) and you have a minute or so to think of an answer before it starts recording - you do get a chance to redo it to give you more thinking time if needed or if you mess up.
The questions I managed to think of answers on the spot so don't worry too much, give it your best shot!

It's you and the computer, not a real person

Thank you
I also received one of these today. Any idea what the process is? Is it a case of an online interview with a set questions without an actual interviewer?

I’ve just got an invite for a video interview and I’m confused as I applied on the 29/04/25 and all I've completed is a SJT and not even an online assesment and surley the video interview stage should come after anonline assesment ?

I did have an application for GWR for Paddington back in January 2024 and I completed the online assesment and never heard anything back and when I chased them up for my results they told me they could not find an application with my email address, so I’m all abit confused.

Could someone please tell me there thoughts and also what to expect with this video interview , I’ve never heard of something like this before even being Invited to an assesment day.
