To be honest things moved quickly, a few days after doing the DMI they told me I had pass and they had a starting date in mind. No talent pool.

Hi all,
Recently passed my assessment and MMI for trainee train driver out of Paddington, just waiting on the DMI invite.
Wondered if anyone who’s passed recently has had one and how long they’ve waited?
I know it’s not a quick process just looking for any sort of time scale if possible!

Hi, congratulations on the DMI invite
Difficult to know exactly what advice to give. If its anything like mine you'll be asked standard things like why do you want the job, what do you know about the company, what do you think are the main competencies a train driver should have, how you will cope with shift work, you may be asked "can you give me an example of a time when you did x, y, z", very similar to MMI. Aside from that I can't really remember other specific questions. it becomes quite a personally tailored discussion based on the answers you're giving.

Congratulations on passing stage 2! I was just wondering if you could pm me any tips/advice on the MMI? It’s the one thing I’m worrying about.

Did my DMI on the 21st May and was informed I was successful the following day... now im ♂️ in the pool... they did mention there may be courses in August and every month after wards... no emails since then was just told to hang tight.

Firstly, thanks to those who sent DMs — sorry I haven’t replied to everyone yet, I’ve only just logged back in after a busy month!
Last week, I received an offer. I originally applied for Bristol Parkway, but the earliest course there isn’t until November. However, they said they’d like to get me in sooner, so I was offered a place at Temple Meads - or wait until November for Parkway. I accepted the earlier start, and I’ve got my medical next week. Exciting times! I'm pleasantly surprised by how quickly the process has moved — the recruitment team has been brilliant.
I was also told that there will be another course for Temple Meads starting in November as well.

Hi I am new here just found this forum, I have applied for a trainees position at pz, and have made it to the day long test sessions. The date is coming up and I have been studying the booklet in preparation. I have a Question about dress code for the day!
Is it suit and tie first appearance and all? Or trousers and shirt? Don’t want to get off on the wrong foot!

When I had my day there was a mixture, some suits and ties and jackets. Some simple formal chino trousers and a shirt.
Not to detract from the occasion but it isn’t actually GWR that “hold” that initial one day assessment but I understand the sentiment, want to look the part! Best of luck
