TfW Class 67+Mk4 sets: trip planning/experiences, diagram updates etc

From RTT 1W63 appears to have been mk.4s, which then worked 1V66 as far as Crewe vice DMU - according to RTT 197015 off a 1Z22 FROM Cardiff vice 1M22 detached at Picc ran ECS to Crewe to replace the hauled set - surely they don't haven conductors not right 197s?

The prospect of there being traincrew who don't sign 197s is very far-fetched to me.

Perhaps heavy loadings were expected on 1V66 as far as Crewe, so it was thought better to use the mkIVs for the busy section and then replace them with a 2-car 197 for the quieter section of the run to Cardiff?

The workings for 1V66 always seem to be a little iffy, and this is generally due to the service being formed of a portion of 1W22 which is obviously not possible if 1W22 is short-formed (which often occurs during the day) and the mk IV ECS off 1W63 being timed close to 1V66 as far as Crewe.

Everyone signs 197s (and also Mk4s) on the route to Manchester. It will have been having the 5 car Mk4 run to Crewe vice 2 car 197 provide additional capacity on the busy 2030 from Manchester on the last Saturday before Christmas. The later 2230 also ran as Mk4 tonight vice ECS with the 2130 splitting at Crewe and leaving a unit there so 3 services saw vastly increased capacity.

Today sees HD02 and 67014 having another go at its test run Crewe to Shrewsbury and back then tomorrow sees yet another run this time for 67022s test hauling HD06 from ATC Crewe to Shrewsbury but then planned onto ETD for tyre turning and maintenance.
HD04 is now stopped for a heavy exam so as long as HD02s test run is successful HD01/02/03/05/07 will operate the 5 diagrams for the next couple of days.

67014 and HD02 will be operating a test path now for a 3rd attempt.
67022s test will be cancelled and HD06 will now go with 67010 straight to ETD for wheelset work on the rake rather than going via Shrewsbury as a test for 67022.

Yes - but the 10.30 Saturday Manchester-Swansea and 16.53 return only run to and from Cardiff, presumably only ever were going to as the 16.53 is the Cardiff departure time.

Yes, the Saturday 10.30 & 16.53 only runs to & from Cardiff not Swansea.

There was engineering works last week, Mon - Fri.
Saturday 1W13 was a 197
1V50 was 67029.
Sunday 67020 & 67029 both worked in & out of Swansea.
This morning 67029 worked 1W13 from Swansea.
1V50 Mon - Friday is currently only
Running to Cardiff.

HD07 had numerous issues on 1V46 yesterday, with faults with the Loco, power issues in some coaches & toilet faults. Can’t be certain but wouldn’t be surprised if that’s failed prep and is having work done hence the 197.

1V31 is still HD02/67014 as planned

HD07 has been stopped for today for fixing faults picked up over the course of yesterday and overnight, planned back on the 27th.

67022 has been found to have some severe wheelset issues and is to be returned to DB later on a 5mph move from ATC to ETD.
