A minor brake gauge fault so HD03 replaced it yesterday.
67017 is due an exam, it's now in the wrong place so will head light engine to Crewe ETD today, 67029 is planned to go to Canton tomorrow to replace it.
I was lucky last Friday (11th Oct 2024) and yesterday (14th October 2024) to travel First Class between Manchester Piccadilly and Cardiff Central and return.
I caught the 12.30 from Manchester to Cardiff on the 11th and the 10.52 from Cardiff to Manchester yesterday.
The first class return fare was £70.00 (an absolute bargain).
On the outward leg I had the 3 course meal for £25.00 - I had fishcake for starter, steak for mains and cheesecake for desert - all were gorgeous.
On the return leg I had the snack menu and had sausage roll with a Welsh cheeseburger , again delightful.
The service from the First Class Host was attentive but not intrusive.
Both trains ran to time.

Great to hear it, when do we expect it back in service ?
Shouldn't be long once it's at Canton, usually the spare sets there are rotated rather than have one there for long. 2 sets run out of Canton on a Saturday so even if it doesn't show on Thursday or Friday it's likely to be out on Saturday.

67014+HD07 heading to Crewe ETD tomorrow for tyre turning after its exam but will be replaced by 67008+HD05 heading the opposite way tomorrow morning for it's exam.

Absolute chaos is unfolding as of right now as both routes between Crewe and Shrewsbury are blocked, 67020 + HD04 has terminated at Shrewsbury on 1W19, now running on 1V44 Tenby service, probably as far as Cardiff. HD01 is sitting around at Chester following the diversion route it was following flooded too. HD06 is doing some swapping to end up on 1V62, unsure if it'll get to Canton based on if the flooding clears. HD03 is still planned for the Holyhead but again, unsure how it'll turn out.

Thanks, unsure if 029 will jump straight back in since it hasn't worked with a set for a while, but that's on my judgement. 1V33 and 1V31 will probably be units and then a set will jump in from there, thanks!
Yes those all look to be correct
That's presuming all the lines reopen overnight, that's not a certainty yet.
Edit- Many lines shut until at least 0900 so likely a write off diagram wise.
HD05 should still head from Crewe ETD to ATC for exam later following storage but little else currently looks to be out.

Yikes, that's not good. Can't really blame anyone though, natural causes. Hopefully we get HD07 back in at some point in the next few days too, what's the next set planned out for exam and when? (excluding HD05)
HD07 should be back off tyre turning by Monday at the latest, it's been much quicker on the actual exam which is a positive sign.
Next should be HD01 on a light exam at the weekend then HD06 the next heavy one which is due after the following weekend so if all goes to plan 05 should be back by then.
