Go back and read what I was initially replying to. They were under the impression that a full day diagram would release more units than the part day diagram which is wrong. They both release 2 450's. Not sure what is so hard to understand.

Filming going on unit 701042. My best guess is some sort of corporate driver training film - hopefully not the latest RED edition

I noticed a recent campaign for SWR, promoting the trainee driver talent pools soon to come for Weymouth, Waterloo, Fratton and Farnham, shows off a bit of 701s. Must be what they filmed.

I must say the 701s look like very nice trains to drive, at least once out as well as to ride on as a passenger.

From an ASLEF perspective what is stopping the units used for driver training from entering passenger service?

I can't imagine they could care less about the passenger areas.

It’ll be issues to do with dispatch equipment, and how that interacts with lighting, platform furniture at the various locations etc. It also won’t be just ASLEF signing it off, it’ll be a multidisciplinary group.

I must admit I rather fancy a go on their simulator after watching that! We had nothing so fancy as that when I was training - what a difference a decade makes - they don’t know they’re born etc. :D

Yeah the sim indeed looks quite nice. One of the shots 1:24(maybe due to the video resolution), would have had me second guessing)

The future at London Waterloo! Great to see 701s being used for driver training, and a 458/4 in service yesterday, I couldn't resist a quick pic!

Post from Linkedin showing 3 Class 701s at the old Waterloo International Terminus on the 19th. From Left to right the units are: 701044, 701034 and 701036.

I believe of the 3 units(Only 1 has been in passenger use), 701034 and 701044 have not ran any of the soft launch services and each are driver training only ready units. The two were delivered before unit 036(034 arricing first followed by 044).

701034 - Arrived on the network on the: 29 December 2021

701036 - Arrived on the network on the: 15 August 2023

701044 - Arrived on the network on the: 8 April 2022

As far as I am aware (see post 9000 updated) the only units used have been 701028/36/37/39/43

When was 044 used in passenger service?

Thanks for the correction. I must have confused 043 with it. 044 has mainly been a testing unit and also used for driver training.

5T83 would be the 701031 that I saw at Platform 2. Had a few crew waiting to get on it from what I briefly saw.
Think its the first testing this unit has done(and under its own power) since last movement sightings in 2023 which all seem to have been loco hauls or depot movements.
