I have just confirmed the purchase of a class 365 brake gauge panel.

It does not come with a brake gauge however I'm not too concerned about this because to get one working I'd need an air supply.

So instead I will be making my own brake gauge (with a 3d printer) to the exact same design but the needles will be controlled electrically.

I only need to now get the speedo panel and then I'll have the main 3 front desk panels, which is what my aim is.

I am also in the process of purchasing a speedo panel so that should not take too long now.

I look forward to seeing the completed set in action! It's also interesting to see those indicators for regenerative braking - when in service, this part was panelled over, as the 365s were only ever able to use rheostatic or air braking.

it just arrived about an hour ago!

I’ve taken the other one out as I had to steal it’s bulbs as the regen brake on button’s bulbs were burnt out.

For £20 + £5 for shipping I’d say that’s a great price for this!

Good to see this close up - it appears that the panels in the cab were repainted at some point - you can see the original paint around the regen brake indicators.

Do you have any updates on the EPROMS for the PIS?

Some new bulbs arrived today which are the same type but at 12V instead of 130V.

This now allows me to run the lit indicators and buttons from the same power supply as the AWS unit.

However when powered at the full 12V they look too bright and don’t match up to how they were on the train, by lowering the voltage slightly to around 10V they look much more realistic in terms of bulb colour warmth and brightness.

Example of one running at 10V is in the image above.

I remember there used to be a 'special code' that you could tap in to get a sub/maintenance type menu. If you had the manual, you could try that or maybe ask the person you got it off if they know it.
I had to scroll quite far back for this but I found it! CAN CAN 4 6 5 accesses a special menu where you can do a test pattern on the internal and external screens, restart the controller and a couple other things which I have shown in this video.

I tried to do this before with no luck but a new 110VDC power supply came in the post today so I gave it a shot again and it worked!

Unfortunately no bypass to it not being master so I’ll have to keep thinking about a way to do that but at least I can do this test pattern!

Very good! Have you tried that code with your other controller?

I have been able to get the saloon displays working by powering them properly with 110V on the back input pins instead of disconnecting wires and injecting 5V.

I also want to purchase some of these MIL spec connectors so then I can connect this saloon display to my controller, not only for when I get it into master but also so then I can try out the saloon display test feature. (I’m assuming it’s like the external one)

You should also be able to display calling patterns, perhaps there is a test that shows all of the stations - some underground stick can do this.

I have recently bought an EPROM programmer/reader which is capable of reading the types of EPROMs used in my 365 parts and the EPROM used on my class 158 Vultron Display storage cartridge which holds the destination data. (I will create a new thread for that)

This will mean that I can not only back them up which is the obvious reason but I will also be able to get the raw audio data from the announcement EPROMs, I will be getting two announcement EPROM boards from a friend (shown in the image). View attachment 20240308_202225.jpg

The programmer that I have purchased is the XGecu TL866II Plus which from checking It's compatibility list, all of the EPROMs will work with it!

Absolutely superb work. Can’t wait for this! :)

Never thought the 365 would be able to live on in this way, especially a snapshot of their time working in Kent.

Looking forward to being able to hear those old announcements again!

The programmer has arrived however the announcement EPROM boards are only arriving next week, so I thought I'd try it with another EPROM so I had a go with the EPROM that stores the destination list for my 158 vultron display, which was a success! (read about that here)

Unfortunately the destination/route list EPROMs in my Connex 365 controller are soldered directly into the PCB however the ones in my Great Northern controller are in sockets (the one which does not work, however its the program that is corrupt not the database)

The controller has two EPROM chips and to my shock reading one of them revealed that the controller which I thought just had GT north route destinations, also had the Connex ones!

This continues all the way to the bottom!
Which means that each controller had an EPROM for GT north and an EPROM for Connex.
It also appears that the dot matrix messages are also stored on here!

I have also found out that one EPROM chip contains both Connex and GT north destinations and thats the database while the other EPROM is the program.
The corrupt message mentions a fill gun which can plug into one of the plugs on the controller and quickly re flash the program EPROM however I do not have this, neither do I have a backup.
The only other option is desoldering the program EPROM in my working controller and backing that up however I am not the best with soldering, I can't lie and I don't want to risk breaking that one. Or alternatively I could try purchasing the one currently on ebay for £90 in the hope that its EPROMs are in sockets and back that up.
