Therefore, I take it all 777's are in the UK?It did indeed, with units 777033 & 777047, there's just 035 at Walton and 053 at Long Marston still to be ferried across the Mersey

And I believe there was an option for further unitsYes, unless the Mayor breaks open his piggy bank for an add on order of course .....
Up to 60 units I believe. And I believe there was an option for further units
And I believe there was an option for further units
When does the option expire?
There obviously was only a minor problem with 140 as it spent the rest of the week on its diagram.I see 777010 and 777026 have resolved their differences and have now joined back up on the Ormskirk line.
777140 was this morning's first failure on the Headbolt line.
Other than the final few yet to be delivered how many of the 777s are yet to enter service?777043 first day in revenue earning service. Started at Southport working 2U05 0642 Southport - Hunts Cross to begin with.
777029 which has completed a lot of mileage accumulation and multiple working, but has been heavily tagged at Southport.Other than the final few yet to be delivered how many of the 777s are yet to enter service?
That link is broken now, looks like they've taken it down8 cars commencing on the Southport to Liverpool Central route.
Ormskirk services running to Hunts Cross. I believe with some 507s to help strengthen services during the peak.
Changes take place from Sunday 25th August.
Northern Line Route & Timetable Changes
As the roll out of the new fleet enters its final phase, customers will begin to see eight-car services on the Southport line. This means, from Sunday 25 August, there will be some temporary changes to Northern line routes with train times slightly amended.www.merseyrail.org
I've been suggested Ormskirk - hunts Cross for a while, glad someone at the events might have listening8 cars commencing on the Southport to Liverpool Central route soon.

Why the change, People from stations on the Hunts Cross line I am sure would prefer Southport as opposed to Ormskirk.I've been suggested Ormskirk - hunts Cross for a while, glad someone at the events might have listening
Fairly sure it’s going to be temporary. The Hunts Cross section is not ready for 8 car working. So I imagine the Ormskirk will get 6 cars at the peaks and Southport 8 cars. Allows some of the overcrowding to ease. Why the change, People from stations on the Hunts Cross line I am sure would prefer Southport as opposed to Ormskirk.
Is there much work required for the Hunts Cross section, do you know? I mistakenly believed all of the Northern line was now ready for 8-car but it seems not!Fairly sure it’s going to be temporary. As soon as this period of over and that section is ready for 8 car working it will return to how it is
Cressington needs selective door opening for 8 cars, the equipment isn't yet in place. Is there much work required for the Hunts Cross section, do you know? I mistakenly believed all of the Northern line was now ready for 8-car but it seems not!
I think it should be both routes which surly is what they will do once its ready for 8 carsWhy the change, People from stations on the Hunts Cross line I am sure would prefer Southport as opposed to Ormskirk.

Given how horrible overcrowded Central is, and that the line serves the airport & soon Baltic, I'd say it is very much needed, but I guess I know nothingThe majority destination is Liverpool city centre, the through working is just for operational flexibility. It barely matters which it is - in the past it was Kirkby which is hardly a bucket and spade destination! If you stand at Central you'll see almost complete passenger turnover there most of the time.
Presumably it's just because running single 4s to Southport in August is not a way to make yourself popular (and working 507s must be diminishing in number).

There is nowhere near the demand required for 8tph to Hunts Cross, and doing half and half is just complicating things. Keep Merseyrail simple and let's not turn it into Castlefield. A same-platform change at any of three different stations (as you prefer) is hardly difficult.
Just to react to this, I'm think you and @Bletchleyite were are a cross-purpose here. I think you meant both the Ormskirk and Southport lines should have 8-car service, but @Bletchleyite thought you meant sending both lines all the way through to Hunts Cross permanently, creating an 8 trains-per-hour service, not 8-car.Given how horrible overcrowded Central is, and that the line serves the airport & soon Baltic, I'd say it is very much needed, but I guess I know nothing

Expect 2x6 cars on the busiest trainsJust to react to this, I'm think you and @Bletchleyite were are a cross-purpose here. My hope is to also see 8-car on Ormskirk peaks as 4-car is pretty cosy and we used to enjoy 6-car for 4 evening services, so seeing this replaced I feel is a reasonable expectation.
No physical work, just ASDO on the units themselvesIs there much work required for the Hunts Cross section, do you know? I mistakenly believed all of the Northern line was now ready for 8-car but it seems not!

At Cressington only half of the platform is full sized, half is very narrow and pinned in with no room to expand. Is it just the rear most door that's off the platform?
Is that the only reason preventing them running to Hunts Cross? I can only assume that the reasons for not raising the whole length of the platforms there to full height were (a) cost and/or (b) the narrowness of the extension making it impossible for wheelchairs. Which can't use Cressington anyway because of the lack of lifts. And since a four-car set fits the main section of the platform, it would presumably be the whole of the other four cars that would be selectively door-closed, and without passenger access between the two units people would have to be warned not to board, at every station en route. So we are stuck with lumbering noisy 507s for the foreseeable future?Cressington needs selective door opening for 8 cars, the equipment isn't yet in place.
Pretty much, Cressington is the main sticking point. Is that the only reason preventing them running to Hunts Cross?
