One consequence of this result, that I can't see being discussed anywhere, is the impact on the business of the House of Commons. The Liberal Democrats will get some new privileges as the third largest party, which the SNP will lose. Instead the SNP will be competing with an increased array of other small parties demanding similar treatment.
Another significant feature is that the Speaker has lost all three of his deputies, Eleanor Laing and Rosie Winterton having retired and Nigel Evans losing his seat.
