Re the exit polls, where do they get conducted? There was no such poll at our polling station this morning

They do a fairly large number of polling places, but it's less than 10% of them and not all day

thanks for that. That has directed me to the C4 coverage. Including Hannah Fry

No problem, I’ve found the C4 coverage the most entertaining and best so far. And Hannah Fry’s pieces, combined with Maitlis and Krishnan have been good so far (I’m also in a Jeremy Vine avoidance mood tonight - cannot stand him!)

Dorries has been taken off air now, presumably to go and throw up by the bins in the parking lot.

Either that or there’s a late night bar being propped up somewhere. The competition bit was interesting, who has received a text from their former boss so far leading to Dorries going off on another one.

Your OK now Nadine Dories disappeared just before Carol Vorderman arrived and did a demolition derby on the Tory party

Indeed, welcome aboard Ms Vorderman, don’t hold back whilst Dorries scuttles off.

Recount at Basildon and some others too, with turnouts well down i.e. the Tory vote stayed home. Hooray!!

Mark Francois wins, first Tory win of the night.

watching C4 and BBC1; C4 seems to be one step ahead on all counts (literally).

Harrogate and Knaresborough is a Lib Dem gain (as in 1997) on another 16% swing.

The BBC does seem to be stumbling a bit. I would much prefer it if there was a ticker across the bottom of the screen like last time (although it may just be an iPlayer thing!) - without it, I can imagine things getting very difficult to follow after 2am.

the ticker just started on ‘proper’ tv

@DarloRich - happy with local result? Although I think its the first seat where C+R votes were more than the winning L vote.

Dan Jarvis has comfortably held Barnsley North; the exit poll thought Reform might win it, which is a huge miss in its estimates:

First big miss for the exit poll - Dan Jarvis comfortably holds Barnsley North by 8,000 votes. Exit poll predicted Reform victory

Labour have now gained Swindon North, considerably less marginal than Swindon South: Justin Tomlinson held it with a 16,000 majority in 2019.
Even with that win the Tory vote has collapsed.
Francois had a majority of exactly 31,000 in 2019. It's now 5,621. I think that's a swing from Conservative to Labour of 22.5%.

(EDIT: Misread the figures and mixed up Reform and Labour!)

Lee Anderson just won Ashfield

Nigel Farage to win Clacton comfortably according to exist poll.

Currently flipping through Channel 4 and BBC as they seem to be the most prepared....

According to a subtitle on the BBC, the exit poll was conducted at 133 polling stations, which seems surprisingly few - about one per five constituencies.

George Galloway out. He didn't even bother turning up on the podium.

Kinnock’s words on hearing that were terrific.
I nearly spat out my banana!

Labour have taken Kilmarnock from the SNP - maybe the exit poll has a grain of truth in it regarding them! Also, I saw on the ticker that Rushcliffe has been gained by Labour. Rushcliffe! When was that last Labour?

Two split votes seem to have given unlikely Conservative wins in Leicester East and Chingford and Woodford Green.
