The Gallagher Index measures the disproportionality between votes and seats, if this sort of score emerges and is the worst in a UK election, PR voting is going to be a major talking point for a while ahead:

These vote shares + exit poll seat tallies point to a Gallagher Index score of around 23, the worst ever in a UK election.

Low turnout in Sunderland…. nevertheless over 11,000 people voted for Reform. My flabber is gasted.
I am not - they have gone from Conservative to Reform and the area was very Brexity. Farage/Daily Mail effect in action. Expect the same in many North East old labour seats. Labour up slightly in vote here. My gran would be spinning at that many Tories in her town!

nice to see the Railfreight ‘General’ decals flag up on the wall at the Blyth declaration.

I think this victory for Labour is more akin to the Australian 2022 election than the UK 1997 election.

Blyth - Reform in 2nd place so thats another key one they haven't won
there is a big move from Tory to Reform though. These were areas that Johnson did well in and people have moved to another charismatic chancer! Also a big Brexit area. Again another slight rise on Labour vote

Oh I do hope the predicted annihilation for the SNP happens. Especially if that great loud noisy nuisance. Stephen Flynn gets his p45

At least hes only be talked to C4 have sold out with Nadine Dories, Kwasi Kwarteng, Anne Widdicombe and Nadhim Zahawi all in the studio
There is that, but Dories has been crushed a number of times during the evening, particularly when the talk of inducting MPs and others into the House of Lords and Harriet Harman's announcement of the life peerage came through.

She was talking earlier about how Sunak had messed up by dropping Boris's Windsor Declaration. Bet they're glad they got her in

As regards Reform I did see a report in a newspaper earlier in the week where Labour sources on the ground in Midlands and the North West ere reporting suspected high levels of shy Reform voters, to the extent that they feared Labour losses to Reform.

I'm not sure who decided to put David Bull on the BBC to argue for Reform, but I'm not impressed, to put it mildly.

I'll believe a landslide when I see it, but certainly the Conservative totals from these first three seats have been astonishingly low.

He was on the other channels as well. The BBC presumably have to take whoever is offered.

I can equally wonder who decided to put Andrea Leadsom out as the Conservative spokesperson on the BBC? She is the epitomy of why the centre ground isn't interested in the Conservative party. The party won't be the 'natural party of government' as she puts it with the views she was putting forward.

And Farage rivals Johnson for hypocrisy and self-interest. They are both in politics as a money making opportunity and don't care what harm they do in that pursuit.

Fire up the Portilometer - (Former) Tory Minister dumped! Sir Robert Buckland given a shoeing. Fiery speech from the outgoing MP roasting some of his former colleagues .

He's definitely struck me as one of the better Conservative ministers/former ministers - and two very good speeches from both Sir Robert and incoming MP Heidi Alexander. A 16% swing - possibly at the lower end of the swings expected tonight, but, again, possibly a bit of a personal vote for Sir Robert keeping the swing down?

Heidi Alexander’s return could bring some very welcome news on the transport front, particularly Rail too.

The very best of them imo: given there has to be an opposition, it's a shame he didn't represent a more Tory area.

I am surprised that Reform UK are predicted to win around 13 seats. Would have thought they would have won 5 at the most.

I do hope the incoming Labour Government can provide TfL with a long-term funding solution, if the money is there, as it seemed the current Government wouldn't fund it due to a Labour mayor...

Not that I agree with him on everything, but, listening to him on the BBC just now, his heart seems absolutely in the right place. It reminds me of Charles Walker tearing into Truss's government after the fracking debacle, only Sir Robert seemed ten times more angry, if that was possible!

It won‘t.
But Heidi is a decent politician, and a decent person too. I’d expect her to be in a ministerial position on Monday.

Seems like people aren't particularly enthusiastic about Labour, more that they are fed up with the Conservatives

Yep. This must be why Reform are doing well, albeit John Curtice has said not as well as forecast in the exit poll.

So far Emily Maitlis’s reaction to another of Dories rants about Boris has been my highlight of the C4 coverage tonight. The roll of the eyes says it all.
