Failsworth no longer has a line Metrolink next year and i'm sure that another extension is going through Didsbury, the train service to East Didsbury from piccadilly is excellent tho, you have the MIA Shuttles, Crewe via MIA, and towards the night time WML via MIA and even a few TPE services stopping there...not bad methinks
To respond to the contributor from the Failsworth area, the new Metrolink line is proceeding well and the current hope is for the Oldham to Manchester Victoria section to be opened some time in Autumn 2011. The stops that he would use would be:-
Failsworth
Newton Heath and Moston (this was the old Dean Lane station)
Central Park
Monsall
Manchester Victoria
I am informed that this line will carry on from Manchester Victoria (like the Bury service) to make connections with other lines in the city centre. There is the Manchester Piccadilly to East Didsbury rail service that he can use at present. Besides the shuttle all-stops rail service to the airport, other services from further afield stop there, but you need to look at the new rail timetables that will come into operation in May.
The Metrolink line to East Didsbury (where the multiplex cinema referred to is situated) is having the preparation line works done at present but the re-opening to East Didsbury is quite some way off at present. The works are being done in two sections:-
(1) From Trafford Bar to St. Werburgh's Road.........Planned opening Spring/Summer 2011
(2) From St. Werburgh's Road to East Didsbury.......Planned opening Summer 2013
There are also excellant bus services from central Manchester to East Didsbury : number 50 bus service along the A34 and a good number of buses that pass the University that call there.

Have You a Map?
I presume it joins the line between GB and Pic, then branches off.
Has anyone an updated version of this as it misses the most interesting bit off:
It does NOT join the line between Guide Bridge and Piccadilly....read what the last line in my post said:roll:
