At least when you turn it upside down it doesn't contradict the service it represents...

( Try turning the TGV logo upside down if you don't know what I mean! )

...haha, yeah seen a lot about that on blogs about what you get when you turn the tgv logo upside down lol - now that is horrible logo. the new eurostar logo isn't quite as terrible as that at least...

Running to Cologne will capture the business market, and it makes sense to operate trains there now given that the Liege - Aachen high speed line is IMO open now.

E* won't be running to Cologne, that's DB. The high speed line only goes as far as the German Border, they haven't finished doubling the section between there and Aachen. Also, DB seem to be building a new line between Aachen & Cologne, don't know if it will be high speed though.

Maybe the armchair experts or thos who seem to be in the business of graphic design could design their own logos and post them here?

The old logo had 3 swooshes signifying the 3 nations linked. Now there are more nations involved in terms of destinations and the company is now a standalone entity hence the single swoosh (but based on the original). I guess the reason for a lowercase "e" is because that's the modern way (iphone etc...)

I think in a year or so and when the trains have been reliveried with it, it will seem normal. It sure beats the rebranding of the olympics from the ribbon logo to the awful thing we have now. Or BA's famed failure of replacing the Union Flag logo on the tailplane to some awful cluttered things.

Maybe the similarity to the TGV logo is intentional? To hint at an integrated high speed transport system across europe. Is that such a crazy idea?

...those tails were actually rather beautfiully designed, and the concept was really great one, one of many diverse cultures etc, something I think the uk does represents. I just was never sure it was right for ba as ba is "british airways" and to not have the union flag on the tail, just seemed to make it look like they had an identity crisis, as the concept in relation to the uk wasn't really clear/mean much to the rest of world.

I think for another airline less associated with their country of origin, it would be really nice idea. In fact eurostar should have maybe taken something frrom the concept...:P

Got to admit based on the logo itself I'm not particularly keen on it, but it's not that bad.. Will be more interesting to see it on the trains in the new livery the day after tomorrow..

Like some others, I'm not going to make up my mind on the logo until it has been rolled out more widely. In all honesty, though, I think the old one was getting a little tired, and out dated.

I am regular user of the St Pancras to Brussels service and must say the new brand doesn't look too shabby! Although, the trains are beginning to look a little tired outside...

I don't think it's especially wonderful, but I think it looks a lot better than the old one. I think they needed to make the text more part of the logo, though.

I'm more pleased at the new journey opportunities to be offered!

Same Here!

I'm undecided on the logo. The logo is clearly controversial, which I think is a good thing because it will stimulate public debate about Eurostar and get people to notice their new services; I've seen on this forum that the logo has already divided opinion. For me, it's rather like the London 2012 logo (which I think is absolutely awful) - that logo caught people's attention and stimulate the public consciousness about the Olympics.

Anyway, news of new services is always good news. Running to Cologne will capture the business market, and it makes sense to operate trains there now given that the Liege - Aachen high speed line is IMO open now.

And again, same here in remaining rather undecided about the logo, but like a fair few TOC liveries & Logos, im sure it'll become more liked over the future years - Look at First Great Westerns new livery for example, i & im sure a fair few others were rather mixed about it at first, but personally, id go as far as saying that it's now the best livery on the network as a whole - the simpleness of the blue, vs the Dynamic Lines – No doubt designed to represent speed & style, modern-ness etc...

Also - Note that Eurostar's Majority shareholder is SNCF at 55% - Operator of the TGV Services, hence the mostly likely reason as to why Eurostar’s newer logo is of similar typeface & design to the newer TGV logo.

I too have mostly come to like Dynamic Lines, however I just cannot get over the pink doors, they're awful. Same with XC, a nice smart livery ruined by pink doors. I think white doors would probablly work alot better on First's livery, and probablly the nose colour for XC's doors.

Anyone know what the new Eurostar livery will be like to incorporate the new logo? Will it be predomenatlly dark blue? If so, they'll blend in with Southeastern's HS services.

The article says that One reason for changing the logo was that there were three stripes representing the three countries that Eurostar runs in. 'Restricting' the company. Three Stripes = Three Country s? How many of the ordinary public know this anyway? Ma be I'm a one off...

The white doors did go brown and looked scruffy most of the time.

BTW - this is the new E* livery on the publicity bumph

I love it. I think the current logo just looks too old and not fresh enough, a bit 1990s, and doesn't show off the company in a good light.

I like it too, a nice addition to the Eurostar group!

I think Eurostar would suit their trains being a dark grey/black with this logo being on the front and back coach, along with the shop areas. It would be nice to see it.

I think the new logo is good as keep something for such a long period time like this logo for instance can grow stale and boring.

It has overtones of champagne coloured vomit emerging from a high speed train.

despite the reasons given for not keeping the "old" logo... id have to argue that it would have been better just to perhaps update the styleing of the old loco... do it in that metalic silver look...

the "new" logo looks like a kid designed it while playing on the computer...
mind you the same could be said for many company logos, adverts etc etc

Whenever ive seen a Eurostar with the new logo, it looks so wrong. Mainly because it is too big.
Think the new logo is stupid, and not a patch on the old. The old logo suited the train (old or not, doesnt mean its bad). New logo is out of place.

I see that as per usual they didn't manage to clean the train.. wonder if they removed the rust before applying the new logo..

I was most confused a few weeks ago stood on a 395 on platform 5 at Ashford, a Eurostar came in alongside us but I double took as I only glanced the logo as it went past the window and I thought it was a TGV for a minute

^^as professional graphic designer specialising in identity design, I'm horrified. terrible...
I agree, I much prefer the old one and as others have mentioned, the word "Eurostar" could have at least been better integrated (perhaps into that squiggle).

It has overtones of champagne coloured vomit emerging from a high speed train.

lol :D
