DfT are said to be aiming to harmonise delay compensation terms between domestic travel modes.I worry that this is salami slicing by the DfT. By removing the 15 minute delay criteria, what next? The 30 minute one goes next. Anything that diminishes a customer's rights is a bad thing in my book.
A few quid refund is a lot of money to some people at the moment. Goodness knows how difficult it is to get a delay repay relayed, as it is.
Air travel is at the EU 261 level which can pay out more than the fare, and the aim is to make it a percentage of the fare like the railway.
At least that was in Grant Shapps time, don't know if that is still the plan.
The EU261 scheme has to continue for flights to/from EU destinations, and to Eurostar.
