Making use of a relatively new service introduced by First West of England (along with many others), we take the four minute walk to Springfields and board the 1613 First West of England service 74 to Bishopston (Nevil Road), arriving there at 1628 on Wednesday afternoon.

We next board the 1639 Stagecoach West service 3X to Broadmead (Stop B4 on Rupert Street) that arrives there at 1704 on Wednesday afternoon.

Ah, the 3X - the sole remnant of Wessex's 3 group of routes, that went defunct years ago, allowing First to renumber their 41 to 3, so the 3 and the 3X are totally unrelated). And you'd never guess that it interworks with the 462 from its numbering...!

We walk (3 mins) to stop C9 on the Centre / Colston Ave, from where we board Transpora Bus service 52 at 1715. We alight at Hartcliffe (Imperial Park) at 1754 on Wednesday.

As an aside, useless information, but Bristol services 1, 2, 3 and 4 are a renumbering of the services formerly known as 1, 54, 41 and 40, to provide a memorable pattern of service numbers up Whiteladies Rd.

Walking to the Toronto Rd stop on Filton Ave (7 min / 0.4 mile) we then just catch the 0246 First WoE service 70, which takes us to [University of the West of England] Frenchay Campus, Stop B at 0255 on Thursday.

We wait a little while (still not invoking the overnight rule!) and get the first journey of the day on First WoE service South Glos Lynx Y6, at 0404.
This takes us to Stoke Gifford (Bristol Parkway station, stop D) at 0448 on Thursday morning.

I see that we are at the heritage Bodmin General railway station of the Bodmin and Wenford Railway which this week has reopened for its annual "Santa by Steam" special trains with suitably expensive train fares. Unfortunately, whilst there is the special "Gold" colour on the annual planner, for some reason, I cannot seem to be able to access the timetable for the Thursday, so I shall sit this opportunity out and let another contestant do what I appear unable to do.

The only remaining option here is a further journey on service 11 into Bodmin, departing at 2302. As that departure is within the overnight ruling time allowance (and to save a further return to Bodmin), I am taking advantage of the overnight rule. This might bend the rules slightly, but seems the best option.
The first bus from Dunmere is at 0559, so a departure time of 0628 is good.

We return in the morning for Go Cornwall Bus service 96 at 0628. We alight at Camelford (Church) at 0702 on Friday morning.
