My deadline was yesterday. Completed them on 20th though.Quite surprised to see people getting their emails back so soon. My tests haven't even reached their deadline yet (midday on the 26th). I expect at this rate I will hear back from them soon after that though. At least this time I know it's a matter of being told I've either passed or failed.
Yeah, I completed mine on the 21st. Looks like they give you four/five days upon receiving the email and get back the day after the deadline is reached. My deadline was yesterday. Completed them on 20th though.
same thing when SouthEastern lost their franchise, not a lotJust received an email saying i was successful and to take the next online tests. VSE and M7 tests.
If I was successful and got through and was offered a place, this would be a complete change of career. What would the effect of Avanti losing their franchise be? All very new to this, as this is my 1st time applying for a driver role. Thanks
What I'm trying to ask, unsuccessfully, what's the chance of getting a job, they lose the franchise, then you're made redundant?I'm not sure who else uses VSE and M7 other than ARL. So the 5 tests you have already done have no life implications, though if you pass you will be invited to do the VSE and M7 which for the few TOCs that use it, does have life counts on it, so, if you have already done them with other TOC and you decide to continue with Avanti you'll have to do them again, if you fail them, you have 1 life remaining but note that the company you applied for originally will now make you redo it (because its been updated and is now a 'fail') with the single life you have left. Very big risk.

no because TOCs unlike FOCs are government protected, very unlikely to be made redundantWhat I'm trying to ask, unsuccessfully, what's the chance of getting a job, they lose the franchise, then you're made redundant?
its not that, its a multitasking exercise which judges accuracy and speed and is used to sift further. M7 iirc is questionnaireSo what are these tests then? They sound a bit different from what I did.
When I think of visual search I think of either the telephone book test or the picture that flashes up, but if it is those you could easily cheat at home.
Just have some mates with you and screenshot the pic or help search the phone book.
And the M7 which sounds like a cowboy movie, is that the one where they ask a question and you have to say what you would most likely do and not do?
no because TOCs unlike FOCs are government protected, very unlikely to be made redundant

The multi tasking is the phone book and beep test tho isn’t it as I described? either way could be cheated, you don’t have to multi task if there is multi people availableno because TOCs unlike FOCs are government protected, very unlikely to be made redundant

if you say so, though someone posted a link above on what the VSE is. if you pass the VSE you will most likely be asked to do it again in house so if you think you can cheat your way through well....The multi tasking is the phone book and beep test tho isn’t it as I described? either way could be cheated, you don’t have to multi task if there is multi people available
I don’t need to cheat I’m in the Job. From what you said it sounded like the phone book and beep test.if you say so, though someone posted a link above on what the VSE is. if you pass the VSE you will most likely be asked to do it again in house so if you think you can cheat your way through well....

Wasn't for online test I did in February. It was train circuit and a blue dot went round. Every time it changed the sequence to had to press a button. Then there was shapes and you had to decide if both sides were the same or not. Then both formentioned together. The multi tasking is the phone book and beep test tho isn’t it as I described? either way could be cheated, you don’t have to multi task if there is multi people available
yes with other tocs who use it they make you do it again under test conditions/supervision im sure Avanti will tooI don’t need to cheat I’m in the Job. From what you said it sounded like the phone book and beep test.
Just a bit unusual that they are doing this online as I had to sit it in test conditions under supervision.
That’s interesting.Wasn't for online test I did in February. It was train circuit and a blue dot went round. Every time it changed the sequence to had to press a button. Then there was shapes and you had to decide if both sides were the same or not. Then both formentioned together.
Phone book and beeps is part of the paper tests on the assessment day.
That’s probably harder then really more tests to passyes with other tocs who use it they make you do it again under test conditions/supervision im sure Avanti will too
If you look on the Avanti careers page it does mention the application process in a drop down menu. Looks like there will be stage 1 and 2 psychometrics afterMy deadline was midnight (12am Tuesday) and I got the email today.
I’m a little surprised though (although I probably just misunderstood). I thought the next stage after the first 5 assessments online, would be at the centre. I didn’t know we would be doing these 2 at home. So if successful at this stage, will it still be 2 days of assessments at the centre? And what will those consist of?
Also, am I right in thinking that if someone makes it through successfully to the end, they are placed in the talent pool and await a training program start date or they go into training quite soon and then await a start date post training?
it is not like what you have posted. You will be given a practice run and it will all be explained.I hope I'm allowed to ask this here, but something I'm not quite understanding about the second Visual Search Exercise is how it would work. Will it all be explained in the email or test instructions? I understand the principle of the first test which is simply to click when there is a fault such as a skip on the circuit, but the panel test I'm not so sure about. I hope my words make sense too, but do forgive me if my writing is somewhat confusing. I found this image of the panel on this website here but I'm not so sure as to how helpful it might actually be for the real thing. (The site is called traineetraindriverinfo.com and usually appears as the first result of a Google search for "train driver visual search exercise").
Thanks so much! Knowing I'll be given a practice run will probably help a lot, and hopefully I'll have a bit of time to get the hang of it. Did you get your email sorcerer? Thanks so much! Knowing I'll be given a practice run will probably help a lot, and hopefully I'll have a bit of time to get the hang of it. The last thing I want is to fail because I didn't understand.
Nothing yet, but I don't want to be caught off guard and feel I should at least mentally prepare myself in case I've passed the OPC questionnaire. The deadline for mine isn't until tomorrow at noon so I'm not expecting anything until after then anyway.Did you get your email sorcerer?
Friday morning. When did u complete your tests?
Ah ok hopefully you get it tomorrow or day after. I can tell you're passionate about this role.Nothing yet, but I don't want to be caught off guard and feel I should at least mentally prepare myself in case I've passed the OPC questionnaire. Best of luck to you on getting the best results!Ah ok hopefully you get it tomorrow or day after. I can tell you're passionate about this role.
My deadline was midnight today, but I got my email 5pm today like some of the other people mentioned earlier so I'm not sure how that works out/was decided...

This might not be as hard as I first thought then. Could still be a change but with enough practice I might be able to pull through. I'll just have to give it my best shot if I've passed the previous assessment.Below is practice on email but my memory or actual one was shapes not signs
