Good luckDone the tests - made a couple of errors as I had my finger too close to the mouse button and clicked inadvertently and once went in my head "yes they're the same" and clicked yes. Hopefully 100% isn't required

Are you going for Liverpool depot…?Just got through to visual search and m7. Got till the 30th to complete so hopefully get my head around it by then and get some practice in. Fingers crossed and good luck to you all who are at this stage.
I don't think there's set times of receiving emails. They seem to be varied.I had my deadline to complete the OPC tests on Monday. Still haven’t had an email back so I’m assuming i haven’t been successful for the next stage?
I missed the liverpool depot application. Only managed Manchester. Are you going for Liverpool depot…?
Ahh ok, good luck. When was your deadline for the 5 assessments…?I missed the liverpool depot application. Only managed Manchester.
Good luck
ThanksBest of luck to you!
GWR apparently told me I would need to reset everything… Didn’t sound right to me but heyWhich TOCs? I am yet to come across one who make you retake everything
I’m in exactly the same position and not sure what to do either. Surely anything you take at home can’t count towards the 2 lives? I did pass both VSE & M7SJE about a year ago and found the VSE tricky enough still.HELP/ADVICE required.
I’ve sat driver tests with TFW around a year ago. Failed on the concentration module (black dot changing colour). Passed everything else both written and computerised. I’ve now had the invite to do the VSE and M7SJE at home with Avanti like many have commented on here.
My question is if I fail one or both of these exercises is that my two lives lost and game over regards becoming a train driver?

These tests are part of Avanti’s enhanced driver recruitment process so you will need to sit these again - regardless of whether you have completed them before.
In addition, these tests will be part of your ‘2 attempts’ for those organisations, such as Avanti, that use these tests within their recruitment process
Please be advised that any tests you resit will override and supersede any existing results that you currently hold. This may mean your existing ‘pass’ could become a ‘fail’.
Yep my thoughts exactly but according to email it counts towards a life if you fail. But what happens if you pass but not to Avantis standard? Is that still a life lost? What happens if you fail but had previously passed these tests but had failed on another module? Or is it just two lives on any test? Nothing seems clear at all.I’m in exactly the same position and not sure what to do either. Surely anything you take at home can’t count towards the 2 lives? This is my understanding of it too.If you search the forum for VSE there are discussions about this. As far as I can tell, you have two attempts at these at home tests, which are only used by certain TOCs (Avanti and Freightliner for example). Therefore if you fail this, you still have your other life in the bank for other TOCs, and you still have another life for these specific tests. (As I understand it)
If you attempt this twice and fail, you won't be able to apply for anyone that uses these tests, but you will still be able to apply for the likes of TPE who do it differently.
You can proceed with other companies that use enhanced standard like LNER for example which use enhanced standard on the stage 1 and stage 2 psychometrics but don't use the VSE or M7 SJT so these results would be ignored. If you are unsuccessful on one of these tests then you wont be able to proceed with any company that uses that test (or the enhanced standard) however you may still being able to proceed to those who use the national process.
The above was the response I had from the OPC.
Would anyone know if West Midlands trains or transport for wales use these two tests? You can proceed with other companies that use enhanced standard like LNER for example which use enhanced standard on the stage 1 and stage 2 psychometrics but don't use the VSE or M7 SJT so these results would be ignored.
It states in the email that it's only toc's that use these two specific tests that it would count as a fail for.
Yes the SJT and M7 are two different tests as far as I'm aware. I think you should be able to find them both on the OPC website.Would anyone know if West Midlands trains or transport for wales use these two tests?

Also is the M7 SJT a different test to the SJT?
24th it was. Got till 30th now for the next 2.Ahh ok, good luck. When was your deadline for the 5 assessments…?
Maybe… maybe not24th it was. Got till 30th now for the next 2.
Fire service by any chance
Do you mean from the initial 5 assessments?Has anyone had an unsuccessful email? Are the OPC notifying people either way?
Yes yesDo you mean from the initial 5 assessments?
Oh im not too sure.Yes yes
I would imagine if you fail any stage from the first OPC online testsI've done my OPC. At what point in the process does the not being apply to apply for Avanti again for 6 months come into affect? Say if I pass my OPC but fail the next stage or pass my OPC and decide not to take it any further
