It is pretty straightforward regards Railcards the same rules should apply to all sales channels. Either the Railcard should be checked\validated at purchase or the Railcard should be checked\validated at use i.e. during the journey.
On balance due to the practicalities of checking\validation across the various sales channels validation during use, i.e. during the journey, is probably the best.
It appears that the current policy in ticket offices to refuses sales of discounted tickets without the railcard is wrong and needs to change to reflect the other channels.
Having said that the attitude of certain posters on this thread, and in other threads towards the industry in general and ticket offices and their staff more specifically is quite outrageous.
