There were trains to Gatwick Airport today but an old of date disruption notice said no trains running between Reading and Redhill. They say there is an obstruction on the track. That was cleared by 8 am today.Don't think there were ever meant to be - engineering block between Guildford and Shalford. Don't know if the advertised buses ran.
The Guildford/Reading trains seemed to be running quite well this afternoon, but the Shalford/Redhill ones had some heavy delays.
Looks like 1T63 has been capped at Letchworth and 9S65 sat at Hitchin for 30 mins and has now had its headcode changed to 1C65 while it stood in the platform at Stevenage. There seems to be some kind of engineering work between New Cross Gt and London Bridge LL, so that might be why the service was running ex Blackfriars?
Meanwhile GTR currently been at a standstill for an hour on the Cambridge branch in the Baldock area, seems to be a pair of 387s having trouble.
Glad I’m off work til Saturday now…
It seems reasonable enough to me in the circumstances. Some very confused messaging from GA on their Twitter feed about what may and may not be running tomorrow?

The delays around 22:00 were due to a loss of signalling on the Hertford Loop, services were held in stations (where possible) until it was resolved.Edit: It looks like a lot of trains in the up and down directions in the Hertford North/St Neots/Baldock areas incurred a lot of delay all around 2200 hrs...... Hopefully someone on here will know the reason and be able to tell us.
....unless it's the much shorter Shipley Tunnel - between there and Saltaire - through which the trackbed had to be lowered to provide sufficient clearance for the OHLE.No services between Leeds and Skipton due to tunnel flooding near Shipley which I assume is Thackley tunnel.
It's definitely Thackley Tunnel flooded. Ilkley route also now shut due to flooding.....unless it's the much shorter Shipley Tunnel - between there and Saltaire - through which the trackbed had to be lowered to provide sufficient clearance for the OHLE.
THose and GWR seem to be the only trains leaving Guildford this morning. Any bright ideas on how I get to City Airport to catch a flight this afternoon (other than just driving)?I’m a bit surprised to see that two trains per hour are running between Guildford- Farnham - Guildford today.
Its likely going to last for much if not all of today and beyond, with gales still blowing at lots of heavy rain still falling. No services between Leeds and Skipton due to tunnel flooding near Shipley which I assume is Thackley tunnel.
I have got on a via Cobham train this morning, ran as scheduled, and have just got to City Airport…there are trains runningTHose and GWR seem to be the only trains leaving Guildford this morning. Although I haven't checked if that is running yet or whether the Dutch are running any trains to get me to my final destination.
Coach RA2 to Heathrow then tube? It runs hourly via Woking.THose and GWR seem to be the only trains leaving Guildford this morning. Any bright ideas on how I get to City Airport to catch a flight this afternoon (other than just driving)?
Truly bizarre stuff on SWR today. Trains are running. Apps say everything is cancelled. The team on SWR twitter don’t appear to know trains are running (endless copying and pasting of ‘don’t travel’ etc in response to straight questions around ‘are trains running from x to y’. The tech fault around the apps, ok, but not to appear to know your trains are running??

Re-opened now according to EMR TwitterMatlock branch is currently shut beyond Ambergate as the residents of a caravan park at Whatstandwell are having to be evacuated over the railway line due to flooding.
I’d stay at home and just claim abandoned journey refunds at this point. The railway is struggling, the rain is still coming and RRB’s appear few and far between, so unless you’re happy to resource your own taxi home if it comes to it, I wouldn’t bother.I have a bit of a trip planned (and paid for) for today and tomorrow. Anyone looking at the Transport for Wales websites would think 'no chance', but does anyone know what the situation is on the ground ?
Today I'm planning to go from Selby to Leeds, Leeds to Chester, Chester to Blaenau Ffestiniog and then bus over to Porthmadog.
Tomorrow the plan is to go from Porthmadog to Birmingham New Street, and then back to York.
Is this doomed to failure, or just going to involve a bit of adventure along the way ?
Trust me we are at this end of the villageBrundall residents will be delighted.
I was the conclusion I have come to as well, assuming it is running! I think it is going to be case of getting to the station and see what is happening, with plenty of time in hand!Coach RA2 to Heathrow then tube? It runs hourly via Woking.
I’ve just driven past the derailment site. There are maybe 12 NR workers at the very front wheels, then maybe six or more along the rest of the train.A Thameslink Service has struck a tree in the Tulse Hill are and lines are blocked. Possible minor derailment too.
Porthmadog to Machynlleth and onto Salop all currently cancelled.I have a bit of a trip planned (and paid for) for today and tomorrow. Anyone looking at the Transport for Wales websites would think 'no chance', but does anyone know what the situation is on the ground ?

Yes, hazard lights displayed on the front of a train is an emergency signal.Interestingly, videos from the time it happened show flashing lights at the front of the train. Is this an emergency feature to warn oncoming trains of its derailment?
You're going to struggle with the Leeds-Chester leg if you're going via Bradford.Today I'm planning to go from Selby to Leeds, Leeds to Chester, Chester
