Don't think there were ever meant to be - engineering block between Guildford and Shalford. Don't know if the advertised buses ran.
The Guildford/Reading trains seemed to be running quite well this afternoon, but the Shalford/Redhill ones had some heavy delays.
There were trains to Gatwick Airport today but an old of date disruption notice said no trains running between Reading and Redhill. They say there is an obstruction on the track. That was cleared by 8 am today.

In fact, the 20:05 Shalford to Gatwick Airport was only 2 minutes late.

There was also a 21:30 shown to be running earlier but they cancelled it. I did some how they would be able to run it.

The 22:30 is running but they have now cancelled the mast train of the night, and 0:15.

The 0:10 arrival into Shalford was also cancelled but the shuttle bus is running between Shalford and Guildford.

Tomorrow there won't be any trains to Gatwick Airport though.

There seems to be some kind of engineering work between New Cross Gt and London Bridge LL, so that might be why the service was running ex Blackfriars?

Meanwhile GTR currently been at a standstill for an hour on the Cambridge branch in the Baldock area, seems to be a pair of 387s having trouble.

Glad I’m off work til Saturday now…
Looks like 1T63 has been capped at Letchworth and 9S65 sat at Hitchin for 30 mins and has now had its headcode changed to 1C65 while it stood in the platform at Stevenage.

I also noticed "NOGO" in the first signal birth on up line just south of Shepreth Branch Junction earlier (it has gone now) with 1T67 sat in the platform in Cambridge for over half an hour.

It has now been sent down the branch towards London, so hopefully the problem has been resolved.

As a side note, I also noticed that 1A50 sat at Stevenage for approx half an hour.

Going on the reason for 1T63 being capped, I'm wondering if the link to York ROC has gone down, or something has happended at York so signalling has been lost for a while.

Edit: It looks like a lot of trains in the up and down directions in the Hertford North/St Neots/Baldock areas incurred a lot of delay all around 2200 hrs...... Hopefully someone on here will know the reason and be able to tell us.

A very full front four coaches for Chicgesrer and Portsmouth was thrown out at Barnham due to a tree on the line at Chichester. This happens at Barnham a lot but normally due to train crew shortage etc. To those who don't know Barnham is basically in the middle of nowhere. No buses were provided and I know passengers can reclaim costs but taxis are dear especially if you are hard up. A number of trains behind were likewise terminated or drumroll sent into Bognor

Some very confused messaging from GA on their Twitter feed about what may and may not be running tomorrow?

The delays around 22:00 were due to a loss of signalling on the Hertford Loop, services were held in stations (where possible) until it was resolved.

No services between Leeds and Skipton due to tunnel flooding near Shipley which I assume is Thackley tunnel.
....unless it's the much shorter Shipley Tunnel - between there and Saltaire - through which the trackbed had to be lowered to provide sufficient clearance for the OHLE.

Definitely think I've made the right decision to not even contemplate coming south until the back end of this week. Whilst the storm looks to clear away tomorrow afternoon they're still putting damage right from the last one and this will add to the complications no doubt and should think it might be next week until some bits of the network SIA train over them again

It's definitely Thackley Tunnel flooded. Ilkley route also now shut due to flooding.

I’m a bit surprised to see that two trains per hour are running between Guildford- Farnham - Guildford today.
THose and GWR seem to be the only trains leaving Guildford this morning. Any bright ideas on how I get to City Airport to catch a flight this afternoon (other than just driving)?
Although I haven't checked if that is running yet or whether the Dutch are running any trains to get me to my final destination.

Its likely going to last for much if not all of today and beyond, with gales still blowing at lots of heavy rain still falling.

Truly bizarre stuff on SWR today. Trains are running. Apps say everything is cancelled. The team on SWR twitter don’t appear to know trains are running (endless copying and pasting of ‘don’t travel’ etc in response to straight questions around ‘are trains running from x to y’. The tech fault around the apps, ok, but not to appear to know your trains are running??

I have got on a via Cobham train this morning, ran as scheduled, and have just got to City Airport…there are trains running

Coach RA2 to Heathrow then tube? It runs hourly via Woking.

Matlock branch is currently shut beyond Ambergate as the residents of a caravan park at Whatstandwell are having to be evacuated over the railway line due to flooding.

SWR website seems to be down / unresponsive as well. All the apps seem to be showing all suburban trains cancelled.

Is this a result of having multiple subcontractors managing your apps, website, socials etc?

Truly hope nobody on here has been severely affected in a personal manner by the weather of late. I'm not entirely surprised to see so many routes in the north of England and Yorkshire in particular badly affected by flooding, having made a brief weekend visit to Yorkshire last weekend, it was all pretty soggy then and this will have just compounded things

Here in Edinburgh there's the occasional blowie gust but nothing more than that and and don't see any reason that local or semi local journey is within Scotland should not be possible by train today however from the looks of some of the long-distance operators you'll have a far more difficulty if you wanted to go any distance.

Looks like it’s not all bad. Brundall Gardens has seen its frequency double to half hourly to Norwich with the emergency timetable in place today.

I have a bit of a trip planned (and paid for) for today and tomorrow. Anyone looking at the Transport for Wales websites would think 'no chance', but does anyone know what the situation is on the ground ?

Today I'm planning to go from Selby to Leeds, Leeds to Chester, Chester to Blaenau Ffestiniog and then bus over to Porthmadog.

Tomorrow the plan is to go from Porthmadog to Birmingham New Street, and then back to York.

Is this doomed to failure, or just going to involve a bit of adventure along the way ?

I’d stay at home and just claim abandoned journey refunds at this point. The railway is struggling, the rain is still coming and RRB’s appear few and far between, so unless you’re happy to resource your own taxi home if it comes to it, I wouldn’t bother.

I was the conclusion I have come to as well, assuming it is running! I think it is going to be case of getting to the station and see what is happening, with plenty of time in hand!
I need to go in to town this morning to do my LFT for the Netherlands so will have a look at the station.

A Thameslink Service has struck a tree in the Tulse Hill are and lines are blocked. Possible minor derailment too.
I’ve just driven past the derailment site. There are maybe 12 NR workers at the very front wheels, then maybe six or more along the rest of the train.

Interestingly, videos from the time it happened show flashing lights at the front of the train. Is this an emergency feature to warn oncoming trains of its derailment?

Yes, hazard lights displayed on the front of a train is an emergency signal.

You're going to struggle with the Leeds-Chester leg if you're going via Bradford.
