Please bear in mid, EMR have run no trains to York/Scarborough, during this pandemic. I hope they do run the Scarborough service.
will be interesting to see any pics from the route thenThought to be the first use of an ex-LNER set today (subject to change) allocated to 1S01 / 1S03.

so is that an 'EMR' set - ie 'original interior' IC70 seats type carriages? (as opposed to an ex virgin refurb ECML set)Technically first use of Red exLNER power cars to Skegness, the set is still NL12.
It is indeed. The exLNER sets are numbered NL51 though 59 and so far only NL51 has entered service.so is that an 'EMR' set - ie 'original interior' IC70 seats type carriages? (as opposed to an ex virgin refurb ECML set)
Thanks - would be nice to sample the ex LNER interiors on the skeg run, but with only 1 set yet it's slim chance I guess. It is indeed. The exLNER sets are numbered NL51 though 59 and so far only NL51 has entered service.
nicely composed pic. Thanks1S02 on the return from Skegvegas.
No probs. I mis-timed the shot on the outward journey, so to get a half decent result when it returned was rather satisfying.nicely composed pic. Thanks
What was the location for that pic?No probs. I mis-timed the shot on the outward journey, so to get a half decent result when it returned was rather satisfying.
Allington West Junction. What was the location for that pic?
Thanks - I wondered if it might be around there!Allington West Junction.
Thanks for the compliment. Hopefully you've got some good shots yourself.I got a phot at Elton and Orston but I take colour sides so I will have to wait a while to see the result. Got the second HST at Aslockton nice GN wooden platform shelter there. Nice shot at Allington jn.![]()
Hi everyone,As already mentioned the additional HST working on Saturday afternoon did replace a DMU diagram, thus having to omit the 'smaller' station stops. However, the only alternative was to put a 'stop' order on the following service. The Sunday working was also added as a social distance measure, however it was noted that the rest of the timetable had also increased.
The 2+8 HSTs at EMR don't have the same door controls as the GWR or the short 2+6 sets which can unlock part of the train from the panel where the Train Manager is going forwards or backwards. The long sets I think is just the full set can be unlocked and that's it. Not sure how this works at Long Eaton as that is just a 4 car platform and they normally stop there.Hi everyone,
Just having a bit of time to myself and going through the wealth of knoledge on here! I came across this thread about an HST being subbed for a DMU resulting in stations having to be missed out due to short platforms. I am curious why the HST couldn't stop at these stations? I am from Bristol and remember that GWR HSTs would often stop at stations down here which had short platforms and pax would be told to only alight from carriage A, B, or C for example. Is there a specific reason why the EMR ones couldn't do that?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but do/did the sets on the Western region have selective door opening? The full sets on EMR don't have that. The platforms at many village stations are only able to accommodate up to three or four coaches only. Above that and access is restricted to local door only.Hi everyone,

I've travelled across Cornwall and wondered why some stations were front four doors, but some were the rear four and how it was dealt with.
All doors unlocked at Long Eaton (and just hope no one tries to get off at one without a platform)Not sure how this works at Long Eaton as that is just a 4 car platform and they normally stop there.
Which is ok as they have grandfather rights to do so. That doesn’t apply on the Skegness line. All doors unlocked at Long Eaton (and just hope no one tries to get off at one without a platform)
Both sets used platform 4 on Saturday.Out of interest, what platform have they been using @ Skegness for the HST set? Being manually controlled, RTT doesn't show any info.
Grandfather rights don't really exist for the Skegness route for the HSTs, there are some occasions when they did substitute a standard DMU working about 10 years ago and they did call at some of the shorter stations, but that was a different era. There are issues with various stations such as Swineshead and Havenhouse where the set would obstruct the automatic level crossing for too long if a call was made at those stations in certain directions, so when the test train for the 6 car SDO sets was conducted early last year specific stopping positions were trialled such as rear 1 or 2 coaches for stations where you would need to draw the train clear of the level crossing in rear of the station. I have the document somewhere giving us instructions for which panels to use at which stops, and in which direction the doors would be opened, but unfortunately it got binned 2 days before it was due to run so we never had the chance to put the plan in action.Hi everyone,

Platform 4 is the preferred platform for HSTs and most other services in general, they can also use Platform 2 and 5, but are barred from 3 (6 and 7 not in use but also barred from those). Platform 2 and 5 have issues because the surface of the platform is degraded beyond 4 cars (platform 2) and 5 cars (platform 5) so you can't really use those except in an emergency.Out of interest, what platform have they been using @ Skegness for the HST set? Today (5th) Yes, both diagrams. Are 2 HSTs still scheduled for these 2 services for sat 5th and sat 12th sept can anyone confirm (subject to last minute unforeseeable changes of course)?
1S01 07.53 Derby to Skegness
1S02 11.40 Skegness to Derby
1S03 09.43 Nottingham to Skegness
1S04 12.35 Skegness to Nottingham
Thanks - yes enjoyed good runs out on the red set and back on NL10 (with ex LNER power cars) - outward services well patronised too, rtns less so.Today (5th) Yes, both diagrams.
1S01 / 1S02 is a full EMR Red set. NL56 - 43318 44063 42199 42198 42240 42239 40711 41100 43307

Booked to run on the 12th, but can't say for certain yet.
Interesting you say that because I much preferred my time on NL51 a few weeks back as opposed to the old sets. Thanks - yes enjoyed good runs out on the red set and back on NL10 (with ex LNER power cars) - outward services well patronised too, rtns less so.
Have to say the interior condition of the red set, whilst acceptable, is rather tatty compared with the trad EMT IC70 seated set, despite obv having been refurbed by virgin much more recently - either heavier wear or less well looked after than EMT / EMR achieved!
well, both OK but I felt NL56 had worn fromica panels, chipped and damaged, seat backs heavily rubbed etc - not commensurate with time since refurb as it were.Interesting you say that because I much preferred my time on NL51 a few weeks back as opposed to the old sets.
