Looks like the Skeggy HSTs are on National Rail and RTT as STPs now - well they are for this Saturday anyway... Red set for the first time this weekend perhaps?

Moderator note: this thread is to discuss allocations, diagrams & timetables relating to Skegness HSTs.

We have moved some other posts to a new thread which is currently hidden while we decide what to do with them .

Does anyone know if they are planned to run on other Sundays this month please?
I think reason for it could be due to blocked MML, with people (I expect fuelled by journey planners) going to / from London via Grantham connections - and trains to Grantham getting well over busy wrt covid distancing yesterday, so an idea to do a swap to an HST and strengthen other DMUs on the route to try to help that. I guess other Sunday use would be determined by any similar MML blockages as situation arises. Could have been an urgent response to sit'n yesterday for which well done to EMR for responding in such a way!

I think it all really depends. Yesterday the unit's did not cope with the demand and as such 1S04 (second HST return) got diverted into Grantham and the 1644 Nottingham - Skegness and return was also a HST. This will most likely be part of the reason for todays workings and the fact that no other HST's are out today.

43058 & 43076 are the Powercars. Set NL08

Any indicators what the plans are for next Saturday? I'm travelling from blackwater via Reading to Skegness for family reasons and would love to ride a HST again!

It should also be noted that an extra round trip from Nottingham was HST worked yesterday (Saturday) as well. 43058/076+NL08 additionally worked:
5S25 1600 Etches Park - Nottingham
2S25 1644 Nottingham - Skegness
2S28 1919 Skegness - Nottingham
5S28 2130 Nottingham - Etches Park

Well done to EMR for arranging these workings at short notice both yesterday and today in reaction to passenger demand. Too often the railway gives up on such things as "too difficult" and resort to hiring buses, so good to see the ability to find suitably competent crews and arranging of empty stock paths from/to Etches Park at short notice.

Just the normal diagrams planned currently (1S01 0753 Derby-Skeg, return with 1S02 1140 to Derby and 1S03 0943 Nottingham-Skeg and 1S04 1235 return). This weekend's extra workings have been arranged on the day under VSTP (Very Short Term Planning) arrangements.

Indeed, it's also good to see EMR has changed their tune with regards to leisure travellers (hence these extra HST services), unlike TfW who are still telling everyone their services are for essential travel only.

I do wonder why they've used a full 2+8 set though when the Angel sets would possibly be better suited?

That may depend on guard competence on SDO CDL. The 2+8 sets have standard CDL, without the SDO functionality.

For Saturday's extra workings it was probably easier as NL08 had worked the earlier Skegness diagram (1S01/2) and arrived back at Etches Park at 1446: much easier - and quicker, considering this would have been a call from Control to get an HST set over to Nottingham for the 1644 - to kick it straight back out than doing a full prep on a different set.

There are only certain guards who sign the Angel sets. At Derby it is the "Lincoln Link" of TMs, London TMs, and 5 Senior Conductors at Nottingham.

Next weekend (Sat 25 / Sun 26th July) are there HSTs to Skegness both days, or only Saturday?
Thanks in advance.

Good to see that EMR are continuing the good work of EMT in this respect.

I think you should assume only the 'scheduled' Saturday services as listed up thread - but if events conspire to create crowding it's poss they may draft in more as they did yesterday I guess.

We're unlikely to know until Saturday probably, it wasn't until 1400 on Saturday just gone that the extras were even a thing!

As already mentioned the additional HST working on Saturday afternoon did replace a DMU diagram, thus having to omit the 'smaller' station stops. However, the only alternative was to put a 'stop' order on the following service. The Sunday working was also added as a social distance measure, however it was noted that the rest of the timetable had also increased.

Does anyone know what date the Skegness HSTs are running to this summer (last date they will run)?

Scarborough one is reportedly cancelled. 222 to Sheffield.
Through train to Scarborough still on EMR's booking page at this moment - with Advance singles showing at the moment. Not to say your source is not more accurate however!

it’s also warning that services haven’t been confirmed. It can be cancelled or altered.

Service Update
Alterations to the East Midlands Railway timetable due to Coronavirus.
Train times from Saturday 5 September onwards may not be available and current timetables are subject to change, please check before you travel.
Service Update
There is a one-way system in place at Leicester station.
Please use the front of the station to enter and the northern footbridge leading to the car park to exit.

My source would be second hand from the person who originally organised the run at EMR. Although I'm hoping it's wrong; otherwise I've wasted £60 on advance tickets

I guess if cancelled you can get a refund - if 222 instead in the path then a less enjoyable run to Scarborough....
But that is a good source.
